This photo so reminds me of my teen years:

Friday nights were for "cruising" --- driving around aimlessly from one drive-in restaurant to another with your friends.

A carful of girls would pull up next to a carful of boys. Maybe they'd flirt, maybe they'd studiously ignore them. Dates would be made for Saturday night.

There might be a fight in the parking lot over an insult to someone's car or the continuation of a spat from last week.

A jealous boyfriend might appear to find his girl talking to another boy. That was always good for some entertainment.

Gas was 25 cents a gallon and a dollar's worth would get you rolling all night.

WWII had just ended when I entered my teen years. A car was a distant dream. Those of us who lived in the city either walked, rode the subway or a bus. I also had a bike which I used extensively and on weekend nights, we had parties at each others homes.
As time went on, we went to school and church dances and had pristine dates. Movies and a root beer float after, then home. Times were different back then. Rationing was still in effect for certain things.

Are you sure? the person standing up in the car looks like Charles Martin Smith- "Terry" from that movie.
Yep. Just went back and watched the movie again. Never saw any scene with that particular car. Toad was in Milner's 32 coupe, Steve's 58 chevy, and of course, his scooter.
Little know fact. the original car Toad borrowed from Steve was not the going to be the 58 Chevy. However, the first car was considered too modern looking.

Thanks for the info! Nice pictures, too!! :)

Remembering how important it was to be out on on Fri. & Sat. nights. I wonder how many teens sit at home now on their computers "interacting".

I lived in a dinky small New England town. Our main 'strip' was about 2 blocks long. If we cruised up and down it, they would have called us "JDs"- juvenile delinquents. Back in the 50s-60s, if you were a 'JD', you'd probably grow up to be a 'commie'.
