Rioters ransack a Ronald McDonald house in Chicago.

You hit the nail right on the head, oldman.

Anyone who does not support BLM gets fired from their job. Must be true, because you "read it" somewhere.

Likewise, anyone criticizing looting and violent rioting gets fired. You "read" that also. (I'd love to know how you "found out that it was true.")

Not everyone has First Amendment rights, especially not conservatives. It's the liberals and the BLM folks who are having daily press conferences throwing around ugly nicknames, and lying their heads off. Clearly, the conservatives have lost their right to speak freely.

And about COVID-19, wow, you just exposed it for the fraud that it is! It's really a hoax, perpetrated by everyone, just to fool us and bring down the economy of every nation on earth. All those people dying off like flies in every hospital are really just actors, being paid to fool us. You don't know anyone who has it, therefore it can't exist.

Real sharp thinking there, buddy.
I get the drift that you are angry with me, maybe. I don’t get involved in politics and seldom read newspapers. The person that was fired was someone from the NewYork Times. Something about an op-Ed piece he wrote. I have no idea about what. I happened to pick up a paper while waiting for my CT scan and read something about it.

As for not knowing anyone with COVID, that’s absolutely the truth. I just spent 7 weeks in the hospital with having three feet of my bowel removed due to diverticulitis. I never once turned on the TV, so I haven’t been keeping up with the news. I was just trying to get better.

After the surgery, for the next almost three weeks, I was in God awful pain and for four straight days. I couldn’t keep anything down, including water. I was living off of a feeding tube for a week. That’s a lot of fun. I was checked for COVID every day.

It was James Bennett. He resigned. I thought he was fired. I was in so much pain at the time, I was lucky if I knew what day it was. Evidently, it was an old paper or magazine. This happened back in June.

I wouldn't apologize oldman. There is truth in your words, plenty of truth to have made a valid point. The double standards are Titanic. All you have to do is look at the beautiful murals.

One thing that I don't understand is that I know a lot of people and I mean a lot of people, but I have yet to hear of one person who has had COVID-19. I would have thought that by now I would have heard of someone that I know may have had the Virus.
In that case, count yourself fortunate. I've known a number of people who've gotten very sick, some still have symptoms months later. Thank heavens, none of my own close friends or relatives (that I know of) have died from this, but some friends of friends have.

In April, my sister's close friend buried both of her parents due to Covid.

Roughly 170,000 have already died from this virus in the US to date. On average, 1,000 more pass away each day. You're blessed if it hasn't happened in your circle yet.

I'm sorry to hear about your painful surgery and hope you recover fully.

Thank you. While in the hospital, one of the nurses told me that they normally dedicate 9 nurses to the unit that I was in. During my stay, we only had three, but we also had a lot of empty rooms because the hospital was only doing emergency surgeries or anyone that was very ill.

I realized then that COVID wasn’t just an ordinary virus. The doctor that was watching over me during the day, was great. He told me that because he had zero experience with communicable diseases, he was staying in my area and would be by my side when needed. Everyone did a wonderful job, but I still have some pain, which seems to subside when I lie down. After eating is the worse time.

Sorry to hear of your own health problems, oldman. Your long illness and stay in the hospital may partially explain your failure to understand what has been going on. I'd be interested to see what you read about the NY Times op ed writer who was fired for not supporting BLM.

About the above quote that you posted, that is not true. At least two people who regularly post on this forum have either had it themselves or their spouse had it. One of these people just wrote today about his problems with recovery from it. So, you may not "know" anyone face to face who has had it, but you do know people online who have, whether you are aware of it or not.

And since many people are infected with this virus and have no symptoms but can pass it on to others, who can say how many face to face contacts any of us may have with people who are positive for it? And probably a lot of them don't even know they have it. If you read statistics about various forms of cancer, heart disease, etc., do you also doubt their truthfulness, unless you personally know someone with that exact disease? Why all the doubt about this disease? Could it be because this disease has become politicized as no other one has?
