Movies You Hated that the General Public Loved...

The flip side to movies you loved that the public hated are movies you hated that the public loved. Well, in 1965 I was dragged as a child by my parents to see the much-touted and very successful musical, The Sound of Music. Now don't get me wrong, Julie Andrews has a lovely voice, and is probably a wonderful person. I just found the film and its content saccharine, relentlessly cheerful, and incredibly annoying. To this day, when I see images of Julie Andrews spinning on a pristine Alpine slope before singing "The hills are alive," I want to run screaming in the opposite direction!

What are some films you hated that the public loved, or you feel were over-rated?

In 2018, I saw 2 movies which had received great reviews,I thought both were terrible.
I walked out {which I don't often do} halfway thru each movie because I couldn't follow the story, the pace of each movie dragged
'The Shape of Water','heist thriller'Widows'
I was surprised "Shape won 4 Academy awards

Hate most musicals, even though many have recv'd awards
I think that musical hate thing began with West Side Story
They're getting ready for a gang war, knife fight thing.....but wait, they break into song and dancing
WTH?

The latest on my hate list is;

The Princess Bride

Some friends of ours love that movie
So we sat through it with them, since they promised we'd love it too

I began hating my friends half way thru that rag

Blazing Saddles. Was in a bad mood and walked out of that one. Every time someone mentions that movie all I remember is what put me in a bad mood that day. Never want to see it, hear about it or read about it. Never mind why I was in a bad mood.

The last Death Wish, don’t recall if it was 4 or 5...
Rocky and Rambo, they couldn’t be missed in our house when hubby was alive and our son lived at home, ugh!

I didn't like Batman and all the other super hero movies and after seeing all the old Walt Disney movies as a kid some of these new ones would have old Walt turning over in his grave but I endured it because of my kids and now my grand kids.
One in particular was the Care Bears movie, not sure if Disney put that one out but it was so surgery sweet my blood sugar went up. My daughter loved it.

I liked the first Star Wars movie. But recently, I saw one of the prequels, and I couldn't get into it at all. Lots of big, noisy special effects, and very little else.

While I can't say I hate it, "It's a Wonderful Life" bored me to tears. Still does. Very hokey.

Hated "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" although everyone else gushed over it.

I thought "Titanic" was highly overrated.
