Tennis Line Judge Accidently Hit With Ball Recieving Death Threats

A tennis line judge from the US Open tennis tournament who was accidently hit by a ball from a player who then was ejected is now recieving death threats and/or being harassed including rants about her deceased son.

Some gamblers and hardcore fans must be really upset. It's a freaking game.

Our world is so sick. She was hit in the throat by a reckless shot when the game wasn't in play that clearly called for disqualification per the rules. He's made reckless shots out of play like that before as well as thrown a racket but has been lucky he didn't hit anyone until now. How that's her fault to some people, I haven't a clue. Noticed ageism, "Karen" (though the insult isn't applicable) comments in articles about the incident including that she played up her reaction to get him thrown out by gasping and falling to the ground. I cannot imagine how a blow to the throat like that hurt, and it wouldn't have mattered if he hit her in a less sensitive spot and she blew it off ...he still would've been disqualified by hitting anyone anywhere on their body.

That's not the issue. If players act with decorum and follow the rules, there are hardly any injuries like this in tennis. The line judges follow the game closely and easily avoid balls during play. This was a reckless shot outside active play that caught her off guard. He should have directed the spare ball with much less force to the ball girl in the corner, but instead smacked it hard to the side without looking.

His loss at the chance of a Grand Slam, falling out of the #1 spot in the world, disgrace and prize forfit will catch the attention of temperamental players for years to come.

I guess that's why the word 'fan' and FANATIC are similar. Still say it's the gamblers and the fanatics who live vicariously through sports. It's one thing to comment but another to threaten or berate a person. This is extreme victim shaming.

Problem is this wasn't during play. The player seemed to be getting rid of the ball as to get a new one. The point wasn't in session. It was a break in the action. I guess it would be like a pitcher hitting an ump during warm-ups.
 
Insanity. What is wrong with people? She had no motivation to make things look "worse than they were" and a tennis ball to the throat or neck can cause a collapse just as we saw here.
 
Just another millionaire pro athlete having a hissy.......Frankly I say, bench him for an entire year.

Hope the judge is OK .
 
My brother used to coach a football program for 8-9 year olds. I called them "bobble heads", because the helmets were so huge on the kids. He has a practice that each kid gets to play, equally in every game. There were instances when the score was tied, and the star QB's time was up, and my brother sent in the kid with the thick glasses, a limp, and splints. I found out that my brother got death threats. When I first heard about the threats, I thought,'"Deaths threats. Yeah, Ha ha ha." In fact, his van was damaged-the doors were ripped off. Spray paint on his car. Things were thrown at his home. But he said he had to quit when people started following his wife and kids around. The kids loved my brother. They said that he yelled at them, just like they did on TV. And they liked it that every kid got to play regardless of their ability. But the parents just went way overboard about "winning".

I tell people, if you want to truly see how immature a fully grown adult can be, attend any children's/teens competitive sports event.
