Frustration at the pharmacy

Went to the Walmart pharmacy to pick up a prescription for Dave. I was wearing a mask, the associate was wearing a mask, and there was an acrylic sheet between us. I gave her his name and date of birth. She failed to find the prescription. I repeated it and spelled our last name. It's a common last name but is nevertheless often misspelled or misheard. Still failed to find the prescription. Finally she resorted to writing it down so I could correct her. She had the date and spelling wrong. The misunderstanding was not because either of us was stupid, or incompetent, but because neither of us could hear or understand each other because of the masks, the acrylic, and the ambient noise. I said to her that I hated to raise my voice because I didn't want to seem like I was yelling. I was glad she was good-natured about it. We both had a chuckle and I got the prescription. It was frustrating, but no one's fault except, perhaps, the Covid.

My suggestion - handle like the bank robbers used to do. They wore masks and had that divider between them and the teller. Their solution, write down what they wanted on paper and pass the note to the teller. :)

I've wondered about masks. This should be a great time for bank robbers and crooks.
You can walk around with a mask and no one pays any attention.

(Taking the thread South-are the big shots in petroleum, car manufactures and others, wearing masks. They've been robbing us for years.)

As I mentioned somewhere around here, it is a great time for bank robbers. The police question witnesses, but what can they say other than that it "was the guy wearing a mask"? :)

You have the following options

1. Your date of birth
2. Your phone number especially if you have the Walgreens Discount Rewards plan
3. Your address
4. Ask to speak directly to the pharmacist and have him or her contact your physician directly to approve the release of your prescription
5. Grab your chest and start swaying back and forth then ask for the number of Walgreens legal department

I hoped this helped

Carol, I've had the same issue a few times, I've had to ask them to repeat something, like in the supermarket where I can no longer see the computer screen with the total bill. I've had to repeat myself also, but I just raise my voice as much as needed, don't care if it seems like I'm yelling. I think everyone knows things these days are out of the ordinary. Masks seem to have a negative effect on hearing and sight. :)

I’ll tell you what NOT to do at Walgreens, Don’t be standing in line at an appropriate distance behind the person they are serving at the window, and they even see you there, when it is at minute their precious lunch break starts. Did that a week or so ago and as I was pushing my walker up to the window she told me she wouldn’t serve me it was her lunch break.Shut the window on me. And this was for a ready rx refill with no copay. All she would have had to do is hand it to me. I called and complained to the pharmacist and got some la-de-dah answer. Have transferred my rx’s out of there since. Reinforces my recent impressions of how all types of health care is getting dumbed down.

Yep, wearing the mask can be/is frustrating, but, for us, until we are told differently by our Governor, will continue wearing one into any store.

A few months ago, I wanted to check out a new car - prices, test drive, etc. Because of my hearing and the salesman's mask and the plastic partition, I couldn't hear a word. I said "Thanks" & left.
Writing one or two sentences is fine for an Rx, but I can't write down an entire conversation for negotiating a price.
