I heard on a TV talk show today, that a lot of mothers nowadays were putting nail polish on their infant baby's finger and toe nails. :wtf: Then the hosts went back and forth saying, well they supposed it was okay if the mother used a natural nail polish and nail polish remover, found in health food stores. Then they said that it might be okay if the baby didn't put their fingers or hands in their mouths. :turnaround:

Well, whether it's being old-fashioned, or just having common sense, I'm AGAINST it! Isn't it bad enough that they paint up their young children with make-up, nail polish, etc. at the age of 5 years old?? How about the young girls dressed in tight low-cut black dresses, that barely cover their crotch?? Ot the painted-on short shorts or leotards that are a perverts dream come true.

I think that people are over-sexualizing their young children these days, at really young ages too. It used to be you were a teenager before you started wearing make-up and clothes like that. What's next, giving your infant baby girl a tramp stamp???:mad:

What do you think???

It's terrible, and irresponsible of the parents to dress their little girls like streetwalkers. I've read about how pedophiles attend the pageants where these little girls perform, and how easy it is to find out who they are, where they live, etc. How easy to stalk them and then who knows what.

Why in the hell parents would do this is beyond me. It teaches the kids that beauty is all they've got going for them, and they'll never learn their true worth, or learn to develop any talents they might have. I think it's disgusting behavior on the part of the adults. And no, they do not need their fingernails painted and makeup slathered on, either....they need to be children first, not toys.

I don't think it's healthy either for the nails. I've heard that even women shouldn't use nail polish everyday, give the nails a chance to 'breathe' naturally. I can imagine what it does to a baby's nails. :(

I know lots of kids who have their faces painted. They usually end up looking like spiderman or a butterfly.:)

On a serious note. I see nothing wrong with little kids occasionally applying some make-up when they are playing dress ups but the faces need to be cleaned when the game is over, especially so before leaving the house. Fingernails need to be scrubbed, not painted with nail polish.

I agree Warrigal! I had an older sister that would sometime spend time with me, and let me try on her eye shadow, lipstick, etc. My mother permitted it, ONLY if it all came off before I left the house to go anywhere. There was no exceptions. Even as a teenager 13-15, I used to have to sneak behind her back, after I left the house to put on any make-up. She broke and threw it in the trash if she ever found me with any in my possession.

High heels for toddlers??? :aargh: These people have waaaay too much money, and too much time on their hands! They're drifting further and further away from reality in their thinking, and the sad thing is...they have soooo many mindless followers who want to be just like them! No wonder we're going to hell in this country! Here's an x-ray of a woman in high heels, yeah, let's get the toddlers and kids used to walking in them.

My mum was a shoe shop sales lady and she was very particular about the kind of shoes we wore and made sure that they were a good fit for our feet. We never had many pairs at the one time because she insisted that they be regularly replaced as our feet grew. Consequently I usually had one pair of lace up shoes or a very sturdy pair of closed toe sandals, both made from leather, for school and often for going out as well. Then a pair of canvas shoes for tennis and other sports, a pair of ballet shoes and just maybe, a pair of slippers. My first 'high heels' were a pair of Cuban heeled shoes at the age of 13 or 14.

I see some little girls now clattering around in high heeled plastic scuffs and I shudder. Cheap and nasty and very bad for the feet.
I thank my mother every day for my trouble free feet.

I'm old-fashioned to the bone, and don't (at all) agree with such.

Mind you I don't agree with a lot that I'm seeing today regarding child-rearing.

Not a good idea at all. Child rearing has become big business these days. When I was a kid, we were just that and more often than not, rather scrubby looking at the end of the day. Just before dinner we were bathed and then stayed put after dinner until bed time.

I remember helping my mom get baby siblings ready for bed. One of us would do the bathing, while the other stood ready and waiting for a fresh clean little one to be passed to them. Squeaky-clean kid after squeaky-clean child would be laid down on top of the vinyl changing pad on the bathroom counter, a fresh diaper would be applied, and after being fitted into a soft comfy pair of pyjamas, off to bed they'd go.

Still remember my own children with their freshly washed hair all slicked back, smiles on their faces from ear-to-ear, and them looking so warm and comfy in their cute little flannelette pyjamas!
