Name the Most Dangerous Virus of all Time.

I think, the Black Plague, was bacterial since it was caused by fleas. Can not judge what the worst virus is/was because this virus is not over yet. But, not counting this virus, SPanisn flu gets my vote.

Smallpox in terms of the volume of people impacted through the years. You won't let me google, so am not sure of the spelling but I think Hanta/Haunta virus in the US Southwest had nearly a 100% death rate. Fortunately not a lot of people contracted it since it was spread through rat droppings.

Duh ...totally forgot the flu. If you're looking at sheer numbers over all time, that's probably it.

I cheated, and "googled" the answer. According to various sources on the Internet, the "most dangerous virus of all time" is called Marburg Virus. I never heard of it, and it seems to be an issue only in parts of Africa....but the survival rate is Very Low.

https://ultimatetopics.com/most-dan...like Ebola, another extremely dangerous virus.

That seems to be the answer to the OP's specific question, but in overall terms of the numbers of people infected/killed, it ranks way down the list.

Hanta, not sure of spelling either, is spread by deer mouse droppings, if we are thinking about the same disease and I would lean towards it being bacterial. You catch it in Utah when you sweep the droppings up and the spores enter the air. You must “wet” the droppings before cleaning them up.

I have no ideal if rats spread this disease.

Hanta virus is found in the droppings of deer mice in the American southwest. It's a virus. NM has a couple deaths from it every year. Rats don't spread it -- deer mice are the only vector and they are found only in certain areas. These are not ordinary field mice, which are the mice that mostly get in your house around here when it starts to turn colder. I've killed 4 of them so far this year.

We need a time frame, don't we? 1400's...
If people are dropping like flies-no one knows why, that has to be terrifying.
There were no physicians, no knowledge on how to cope-do you escape by running, shelter in place ( 🙏)

We in the West, know the Black Death ravaged nations in the East, but we do not know how severe it was.

We had some information about the Spanish Flu, but not how to stop it's spread, or how to 'Fix those infected.🔬'

(Shelter in place, avoid others is fake news, put forth my hermits seeking acceptance

Post 41 cute-good press.

There are some 'places' that avoided press, any press:
as in our one Leprosarium which functioned from late 1800's -1990's

(Rotting away are ya, take a ride on a pirogu)

Tsk, tsk....

Of all time is your time frame. Most dangerous ever.

Malaria, though not caused by a virus, (or even a bacterium), probably kills the most people worldwide.

Small pox is definitely caused by a virus, and was deadly and feared before the vaccine arrived, and is now irradicated, or almost so worldwide.
