I’m a 73 yr old female that took a bad fall breaking my left femur and left arm .......7 weeks out and trying to cope with the daily trials of living alone and recovery

Hello Cheri and welcome from New Jersey.
It must be hard coping with all those problems alone.
Is it possible to get some help in for housecleaning and cooking meals? Even a bit of nursing care.
I worked for an agency that does that and some or most of it was paid by Medicare for a limited time.
Even a physical therapist can visit.
Good luck to you.

Welcome, Cheri.
That sounds very, very difficult, and we are all hoping that you will find some support here, that will help you in some ways.

All or most of us, here, have faced, and do still face many daily difficult and daunting challenges, that overlap with yours, and there are plenty of ideas, along with kind people, here, who will offer you some understanding.

Consider thinking of someone you knew in the past, who might be able and willing to help you, with some specific need, if you contact them, even if you have not been in recent contact.

Meanwhile, we are here to listen and can comprehend that alone feeling.

No friends or family who can assist? Neighbors? Anybody?
My son lives 20 minutes away.... my daughter lives in Grand Cayman....she was here just after I fell ,but returned home....I just moved back to Pa. from Florida to be close to family. It’s a new home and community I have one great neighbor that has been very helpful ,but it’s still a challenge being alone and recovering.

Hi Cheri...welcome from London... it must be really difficult trying to cope with the pain as well as trying to manage getting dressed, washed and everything else.

I hope you stay with us.. if nothing else we'll try and take your mind off it while you recover

So sorry for your plight, Cheri. I hope you have a visiting nurse checking up on you as well for a fractured femur is serious business. Not that a fractured arm isn't but, there are some more disadvantages here. Also, you should have a physical therapist assisting you several times during the week. I am glad a neighbor is helping you out. Perhaps being on this forum will help a bit. I hope so. Saying hi from NJ.118711314_1695691730595477_7178912658892453938_n.jpg

First, welcome aboard. You will find a lot of supportive people on this forum.
You have a "tough row to hoe" and living alone makes it worse. My heart goes out to you and I pray for your speedy recovery. Stay safe and do not try to do anything that could be dangerous or slow your recovery. Sometimes it is just hard to accept our current reality, but that is what you have to do until you recover. Feel free to vent here as so many of our members have had to deal with difficulties like you are encountering and they are very sympathetic and understanding.
