The Most Boring

People who ask banal questions when you first meet them, (bl**ding obvious ones like, "Is it you?" or "You're back!").

What can you say, but "no it's an apparition"?
(same man as described above, if you're wondering :) ).

I'm not big on small talk. I prefer actual discussions. So most people do the small talk thing with me and I usually tune most of it out because it's just a bunch of blabbering about stupid crap. I could care less if one of my co-workers wishes her hair was like so and so's and if another had a egotistical show down with the boss or whatever...*Rolls Eyes*

And yet there are people who can tell a story about a mundane subject and somehow make it interesting. I suppose it is all in the delivery.

The most boring are the people who never seem to come up for air. I got together with some old shipmates last year and two of them never did shut up. They both seemed to think that everything they had seen or done in the last 35 years was fabulously interesting. They interrupted everyone, and any story by anyone else "just had to be topped."

I really was interested in talking to one of the wives who had worked with disabled children for 20 years, but the constant disruption made it difficult. I was rather tired of rehashing old Navy stories.

You can of course try to perfect the technique of allowing the sound to go in one ear and out of the other one, though it doesn't work too well if the voice is particularly annoying, or monotonous ironically, (I've tried with you know who, but a nice sweet female voice is another thing altogether, I can pretend to listen for hours without it bothering me ;):giggle:!).

Personal drama...tales of relatives, in-laws, so-called friends..."So then I said to her_____" "And can you believe that SHE said_____"...on and on. I need a printed program to keep up.

I don't know these people.
I don't care about these people.
I have a headache...
LOL When my kids were in their teens and one would go on like this, another of them would inevitably say, "Who?" (three second pause) "Cares?"
I do that in my head to this day...
