Delayed Christmas mail

Two weeks ago I mailed a card to my daughter in El Paso, Texas. It contains 3 gift cards and a check so I returned receipted it. It finally made it to Amarillo, Texas. Sat there for a while, then on the 24 it was in Los Angeles, California. What?

It left LA on the 26th, and is now in route to hopefully El Paso, Texas. There are no weather delays in these areas. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Talk about snail mail. Have no ideal what the issue is. We took it inside, had it weighted, paid the postage, and got the return receipt. Pretty much done using the post office for out of state mail.

Last time I paid to overnight something to my daughter it took 7 days. 😳
 

I bought something online. When I told the gal I still hadn't gotten it, she sighed and said, "Everything I send to anybody in Calif. seems to go into a black hole." So she sent me another one and I luckily got it that time.

I posted about the experience on another site & somebody on the site who works for the Post Office said that there is a post office in Bellflower, CA (LA area, I think) that USPS workers all over the US refer to as "The Black Hole" since so much mail arrives there and is never seen again. That's discouraging.
 

Reminds me of an experience a few years ago. We sent a letter to our son while he was deployed aboard an aircraft carrier. A couple of months later it was returned as "undeliverable". Markings on the envelope clearly showed that it had made it successfully to the FPO address, but the navy had routed it to the wrong ship at sea. :rolleyes:

Rarely have problems with Amazon Prime...USPS is another matter!!!!!!!

I mailed a credit card bill weeks ago that never got through so I paid online. I ordered a food seasoning online on 12/09 and it stated it would be delivered on 12/31 but it came yesterday the 27th.
 
I’ve tracked mail & you shake your head when you see it far from the logical route. When the item that didn’t make it on time is for a special occasion, it’s disappointing. Aneeda’s lost card was for Christmas. It’s not the same to learn about your gift later.
 
My new neighbor who lives right next door to me sent me a Christmas card. Since the post office closed the local sorting center, her card made a trip about 50 miles away to what is now the closest sorting center, then sent 50 miles back to my mailbox.

LOL! They should have just slipped it under your door! That's what I did with my next door neighbor.
 
I usually track any purchases I make online, and I'm amazed at the "route" some of these items have taken in recent months. Some of them have "zig-zagged" hundreds of miles before they arrived....especially those being sent via the USPS.
 
I mailed out my credit card payment on the 8th of Dec. Got the statement today the 28th showing the payment never got there. Where did it go? Will it get there eventually? Who knows. Next time I'll send some cat litter. It's supposed to be lucky.
 
Just now, mailed things are starting to trickle in that I ordered in early December. A paper check arrived in the mail two weeks after it was issued. Tracking packages reveals that they sit at mail sorting centers for several days, and are at times misrouted after they depart. The Three Stooges could do a better job...
 
My daughter still has not got her Christmas card. We talked to the post office a d the card is circulating all over the western US. 😂. While we can not travel, apparently the our card is having a nice vacation. Daughter will get her soon to be mailed birthday present before her family receives their Christmas presents. 🤦🏻‍♀️

On another note, I am waiting on my PRIME package which is two days overdo. When I look at track package it now says, basically, we got no clue and if it does not arrived by January 6 let us know and we will give you your money back.

Seriously? That’s a puppy play pen and puppy toys, I need those items. 😢
