Married 76 year old female from Sydney. We are having a wet start to summer, so unusual, we've already had a 40C day, but today's top temp expected is only 24C - crazy weather. Stumbled across the beautiful video from Scotland and decided this was a good place to be. Nothing exciting happening here this New Year's Eve - after a magnificent start at keeping the virus at bay all year, Sydney has had a recent outbreak on the Northern Beaches which sadly has escaped to the greater Sydney area. Only 5 people are allowed in your home tonight and although the New Year fireworks will go ahead, the city is closed to crowds and everyone will be watching from their lounge rooms. As we head into another year of uncertainty, I hope this terrifying virus stays away from your door.

Welcome aboard mellowyellow.

From Pecos in South Carolina.

We all hope this virus stays away from and I am getting used to wearing that mask and looking like a cowboy in a West Texas dust storm.

There are some very nice folks on this forum, stick around and make yourself at home.

...we have the same problem... no friends or family outside of our bubble to be permitted to visit or to be visited, not even in the garden.,.... . No pubs or bars open... we'll never forget New years Eve 2020 that's for sure, but hi from London, you'll find a few Australians here already... enjoy the forum

Thank you Pecos, wearing a mask here isn't compulsory yet, we've been covid-free for months but suddenly it's become serious with the latest outbreak.

Thank you hollydolly from London

Thanks for the welcome Permangkelder, I see you are a fan of the Crows - the AFL stars, here in NSW we go for the brutal NRL - the game that most mothers of young boys refuse to enrol their sons into. I found this on Wiki, so it must be true, lol
The AFL is the most popular watching sporting code in the world by per head of population and obviously dominates in Australia. ... The NRL is the second most popular professional football code in Australia and plays rugby league which is an offshoot of rugby union.

Hi mellowyellow, welcome so glad you found us
You'll meet other members from around the world here at SF which makes this forum unique
I have no problem wearing a mask every day since COVID started.I've always worn something similar to mask over my entire face when it gets really cold here in winter I will admit it felt strange to wear it on warm summer days
Enjoy yourself here
