Yesterday, I got online to check for openings for getting the vaccine and finally one of our grocery store pharmacies was taking appointments. Our (sleazy) governor has been saying that vaccinations have opened up for anyone 65+, so I scheduled for today my husband, who is 80 and myself (I'm 74). We went in before our scheduled time and I was told I couldn't get it because I wasn't 75. They said that what the governor is saying does not apply to where I live in AZ, and they got a very small supply from Phoenix. I'll have to wait. I was so disappointed.
 

How disappointing. Is it long until your birthday? There’re so darn many rules for different things. I can’t keep up with it.
 
On one of my news feeds, I read where Amazon has offered their help in the distribution of vaccine.
Amazon is one of the country's largest businesses—and despite its faults and flaws, the company overall excels at logistics and distribution at scale. Therefore, Amazon suggests, the brand-new Biden administration should give the company a call to help ramp up COVID-19 distribution nationwide.

"Amazon stands ready to assist you in reaching your goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans in the first 100 days of your administration," Dave Clark, the head of Amazon's consumer business, wrote in a letter (PDF) to President Joe Biden Wednesday.

Amazon's more than 800,000 employees should be in the vaccine queue as soon as possible, Clark noted, as individuals working in Amazon warehouses, AWS data centers, and Whole Foods stores are essential workers who cannot work from home. The company has inked a deal with a third-party health care firm to administer vaccines on-site at Amazon-owned facilities, Clark added—if they could just get vaccines to administer.

I had a Doctor's appointment today. On the way out of the office, there was a chart that named 3 different covid vaccines and their price. One of them was listed at $500. I don't know where she got that chart.

Holy cow! Insurance companies (et al) are getting soaked.
It's my understanding that if you're uninsured, you can fill out a form and have the vaccine covered by medicaid. (thinking to myself; wonder if you have to wait for approval then?)
 
The vaccine is free here through the health department, I was able to get my husband an appointment, but I was rejected. I think for allergies and passing out. But who knows? Then I got an email from the VA admin saying they will give me the vaccine and monitor me for an allergic reaction.

They are doing over 75 first. The email said they will email me the time. The place is at the health department lol. Whereas the health department is giving shots at a convention center. Whatever. I will just wait. I am bound to get it sooner or later or not at all.

I find I am totally tired of even thinking about it and am starting to care less and less.

You are in your 75th year, thus you should qualify. I've had to dispute this when I was 20 and in my 21st year in order to take state boards in order to obtain my R.N. I won.
 
UPDATE:

Right after I posted my original message, I got a call from the pharmacy. They asked if I would be able to come back in because they had several doses that they were going to have to "dump" if they weren't used. We went right in and I got my vaccine. The pharmacist that gave me the shot said they only got a very small amount from Phoenix so it was very limited. He said once they puncture the vial, they have about 6 hours to use or lose it. They said they felt bad rejecting me earlier but they have strict guidelines they have to follow. We live in Mohave County, which is over 13,000 miles and has a population of 200,000+ people, and only 6,000 vials were sent from Phoenix.

I consider myself Blessed to get that phone call and get the vaccine. I felt sorry for the pharmacist. He said it's been a nightmare trying to keep up with the constant changes in distribution. He said they spend a lot of time getting updates and bulletins but no real action. Hopefully, things will change for the better now.

To answer a couple questions: My 75th birthday will not be until October and according to our county's "rules", I would not have been eligible. I had to give them my Medicare card....not my Humana card.
