Meghan Markle's estranged father Thomas published private letters

I’ve told my daughters to trust no one, not even your closest friends with your secrets. If you had someone they needed to tell, make it your parents. Guess my advice wouldn’t have worked.
isn't it a shame that in cases like this you really can trust No one since friends / family for a price will forget any bond ...

No wonder they are estranged. What a vicious man to hurt & humiliate his own daughter.
I'm sorry but I disagree and he has been very good dad to Meghan and his other children most of the time, though he's not entirely blameless in this controversy, how your child sending you letter in any normal circumstances can be considered impossible for a parent to publish or do what the hell they wish to baffles me!
Anyone's child marrying into royalty is taking a great deal on, in terms of press scrutiny, and the public's expectations of them, Meghan showed great courage and confidence in doing so, and this in itself means to me her father (and mother), didn't do too bad a job!.

I'm speechless. I seek help in explaining to you just how wrong you are. Any takers?

No takers(?) and if there are, or more troops are needed I'm not backing down for anyone on this, no matter what anyone might think it costs me in terms of credibility, not least because I've seen enough decent or "okay" dads, being given the raw end of the deal by those happy to condemn others, when they've never been an estranged father, (/mother), who has loved their child, built up their confidence all they could, and tried to instill a sense of fairness in them, so they will stick up for others being unfairly condemned too!

Don't back down. Be bitter and angry and disloyal instead. If betrayed, betray back. I asked for takers not because I want anyone ganging up on you, but it's me, it's my fault, I'm having difficulty expressing what I'm feeling and was seeking assistance for my inadequacy, not yours.

Dont be upset, I didn't realise this was the situation at all, and whatever happens we shouldn't fall out over two people, (Meghan and her dad), well able to look after their own interests should we.
Apologies therefore, those royals you know, I used to take a slightly different view on the breakup of Prince Charles, and Diana's marriage than my then girlfriend, who wanted to condemn Prince Charles, (/Camilla), without taking into account the frailties Diana showed, and her courting media attention when it suited her, only to complain when it didn't, (most lovely lady though she most certainly was of course!).

I don't follow much of the royalty stories either. But what I do not understand is that they left the royal family as they did not like being in the spotlight.

So why then would they sue, just leave it alone and the story dies down as with most of the other stories that are printed.

This will certainly put her back in the spotlight.

I have a feeling that there is a lot of nastiness and conflict within the Royal Family, and plenty of reasons Harry and Meghan left, which we know nothing about. To start with, what was in those letters? How personal were they? Was she talking about the beautiful scenery in some country they were visiting, or how cute their baby was? Or was it really personal stuff? I think that would make a difference.

"I am not amused"! ;)

Apparently, this is a big deal in the UK. I admit that I don't know anything about this. The goings on of the Royal Family is way above my pay grade. But I understand there are many royal watchers in this group[. So what gives?
He is not part of the royal family, and it's the press who keep bringing this man into the public eye. It's a pity that the queen didn't do a bit more research into the family of Meghan Markle before giving permission for her to marry a royal prince.

Not sure whether or not the queen had to give her permission regarding a grandson, I'd have thought if any permission were sought it would have to be Harry asking prince Charles, or even Harry asking permission to marry Mr. Markle's daughter, (as Prince Charles famously did when he asked Lord Spencer, Diana's father). 👑

If I remember correctly, Prince Harry needed the queen's permission to marry. After all, he is very close to the throne and there is a chance he could be the next king. Which is why I wonder just why she did give her consent. I think there were things going on which were not made public.

I sometimes have trouble falling asleep at night,so I think about the royal family and it's ZZZZZZ
I had a friend from France who simply had to walk out of the room if our queen came on the tv to speak, much to his landlady's amusement, (their chopping the heads off their royalty a century or two before still causing ripples perhaps), and my own mother used to do her best to disrupt my father listening to the queens Christmas message when we were children, (my mum couldn't be upstaged, even by our dear queen, when she wanted her husbands attention!), so you are not alone, but as a supporter of an institution that has lasted so long, and given the popularity of Prince William and Kate, to name just two, I think our monarchy may just last a few more years yet, (so plenty more to send you to sleep on its way!). LONG SENTENCE ALERT

It wouldn't have mattered if Harry is truly as self-centered he's coming across these days. I'm sure the queen knew they were trashy except for Doria (only a Markle for a short time by marriage) who is very classy. The ones with Markle genes seem to 'thrive' on attention seeking and interpersonal drama.

I wanted to think as you seem to do about Meghan, or was unsure about her to start with I admit, but she won me over, so there is much good in her, though she could start to improve things by showing when she states "I've always cared about my father", (as though she is in control or the compassionate daughter she wishes to portray), she needed to say, "I've always loved my father, who has loved me, in spite of both our faults"(something like this anyway, though maybe more poetically written or spoken?)..
