Ties

Well we wore ties as part of our school uniofrom so I could tie a tie with my eyes closed...
Me too @hollydolly right through primary and secondary school
When the weather was hot we were allowed to remove our ties
No air cons at South Aussie schools during 50s and 60s 🥵

This reminded me of one time years ago when me and my husband were out shopping. He wanted to get a new tie. So he started looking and I turned around and saw a tie on another shelf. I showed it to him and he said "I knew you would look on that shelf because those ties are cheaper." I wanted to yell at him and tell him he had soo many ties that if we traded them in for money we would be rich. My husband has to be dressed perfectly and never leaves the house without a suit and a tie on even now.

I never liked ties either. We used to say in engineering that ties were counterproductive because they prevent the flow of blood to the brain. Finally, the powers that be listened and did away with all that silliness of having to wear suits and ties.

I love a man in a tie, it's easier to drag them 😁
Off to the neck tie party for you, buster! :ROFLMAO:

A necktie party is an execution by hanging or a lynching. A necktie party may refer to a lawfully sanctioned hanging, but generally, it refers to a situation in which a mob overtakes a jailer and administers its own brand of justice. The term necktie party came into use in the American Old West and originated as the term, necktie social. Interestingly, the term necktie party also referred to a type of social event in the 1800s in which neckties were auctioned off for charity. The term necktie party has been in use since the 1870s.

My late husband hated ties, absolutely hated them but he had to wear one whenever he had to testify in court. He had a small collection of dreadful ties, all with fish on them, including two that were fish.

He wore one of the fish ties to court one day and the judge called him over and said, "_______, that's a richeous tie and I really like it, but don't EVER let me see it in my courtroom again, understand?"

He immediately bought a navy blue tie for court appearances.

I feel uncomfortable in a dress shirt without a tie. Never liked an open neck shirt. Always felt uncomfortable as if something is missing. and the collar all floppy. Even in a casual shirt I prefer a crew neck jersey to a button up, open neck shirt. Each to their own though.
That's my husband, and from a woman's standpoint... my standpoint, a man's dress outfit looks incomplete with an open collared shirt without a tie.

To me it looks sloppy.

I love ties on a man and on a woman. I sometimes wear a suit with a loose tie and still manage to look feminine.
Men don't have to look formal all the time, I like casual too,but no thongs (hate them), prefer espadrilles or sandals.

My hubby had to wear a tie when he worked and hated it. He would make the knot once and then slip the tie over his head.
When he got home he put it around a hanger then all he had to do in the morning was put one over his head and slide the knot in place.
His side of the closet always looked liked a mass hanging was about to take place.

I had to wear a tie most of my working years. Since I retired, I have only worn one a couple of times....dressing up for a funeral. I took a bunch of ties to the Salvation Army about 15 years ago, and kept just 3 or 4 in the closet for any formal events we might need to attend.

I was expected to wear a tie throughout my working career, even in the hottest summer weather before the advent of everywhere air conditioning. Even as a child, I can remember "clip on" ties worn to church. I always thought that their prices were exorbitant for a few square inches of fabric. Mandatory ties for men were an artifact of an earlier, dressier age, and were part of the standard that at one time included headgear as well. Today, almost anything goes... 👔

Our way of life is very casual, and I like it that way, the only time my husband wears a tie is for a funeral or a wedding.

I had to wear a tie every day of my engineering career. I always tied a windsor knot and although It look good it was never comfortable. There were times, when working close to engines it was a bit dangerous and our company required we wear lab coats with ties pinned to the inside of the lab coat. Then when it was time to take the lab coat off, you forgot about the pinned tie and you looked like a comedy scene from Tim Conway trying to wrestle yourself out of a lab coat that was trying to strangle you!

My husband ties his (99% of the time) in the half Windsor and full Windsor style.
