Pepe Le Pew Is Cancelled

When Daffy Duck gets cancelled, I’m cancelling the crazies.

I have said it before, and I will again. This is just another example of the younger/more modern generation doing all that they can to separate themselves from 'anything' once a part of the 'older generation.

IMO, 'we' and our ways are clearly hated . In individual homes/families ? No, but in general terms,... for sure.

Exactly. and in that vein, I'm doing my part. Not one dime of my money will be left with the younger, ungrateful generation. :) (y)

It is an interesting read, and helps explain how he was able to rise to power.
Interesting read? It's a rambling of a lunatic. He repeats himself a lot, keeps circling back, no wonder it was so many pages.
He wrote it when he was jail I believe.
But then again I was like 14 years old when I read it for a project. I just remember hating to read it.

It's interesting that a "lunatic" was able to convince a large portion of his country to follow him.

It's nothing to do with the younger generation. The 'Loony Left' have been let loose and are doing their best to disrupt normality. However, I think the tide is turning at last, in Britain anyway. Enough is enough!

Is there actually evidence that images like Pepe Le Pew really do propagate this attitude in children or adults for that matter? Is it as powerful of an image as those found elsewhere in the culture such as music, advertising, movies, etc. Is it a case of this is change the aggreived group can affect?

In my life, it has always been my perception that women really aren't liked as people and that has always baffled me.

For the record, even as young kid I always felt let down when they ran Pepe Le Pew, definitely on the B list of characters to me.

Over 1/2 million people died from the pandemic and the nations economy has nearly shut down, but what's Fox "news" talking about? A cartoon skunk! :ROFLMAO:

We have 6.2 percent unemployment and the stock market is at all time highs. These are hardly signs of a shutdown. Unemployment was 6.7% in 2013 with no pandemic. With the vaccine rollout we should be in great shape within three to six months.

I always enjoyed Pepe Le Pew, if more people were taking care of farm animals maybe they wouldn't be bothered by a cartoon of an overly (obnoxiously) attentive male animal. But, I haven't watched the cartoon for a long time, so maybe it is offensive.

Pepe Le Pew's been kicking around since 1945, and part of his shtick was that he played on the stereotype of Frenchmen being great lovers, whereas ironically Pepe's skunk scent and aggressive pursuit of the opposite sex made him repugnant to them. To Pepe, "no" never meant that, and he found female resistance to his advances charming, amusing, and part of the game; in his mind, they were playing "hard to get." The narcissistic and overly persistent suitor routine has worn thin in modern times to the extent that it's no longer funny but offensive to many...

I do appreciate Pepe as kind of an artifact or example of a stereotype in motion, hastening to add that I do not ascribe to his beliefs or actions! Pepe is not an A-list Warner Bros. character, not having the depth, range, or appeal of say, Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck; my God, did I just say that?! Rather, he was a predictable supporting cast player, kind of like Hugh Heffner in fur. Still, it's hard not to have a little liking for this rogue, this would-be French love god who was a self-mocking character. Many of us knew people who thought that they were a better catch than they actually were...and Pepe was, after all, just a 'toon... 😸

Pepe is depicting a stereotype. Geez. They aren't going to get rid of Homer Simpson because he guzzles beer, that's national pride.

Normality should be disrupted if it teaches or downplays actions that degraded others. I'd trade all that hatefulness for teaching empathy and compassion any day. Why is it 'looney' to respect others?

don't understand a lot of the threads lately ?
I do know Betty Boop was a sexy flapper lady, released in the thirties, released in the mid 50's...

She was a cartoon character with enough sexual content to keep the adults interested.
That i understood,--- today ?

Homer Simpson is presented as a ineffectual slob, the household dynamics apparently appeal to mass audiences-why?
