Fake coronavirus vaccines sold by dark web criminals

Cybercrime cops are warning Australians not to fall for online sellers falsely claiming to offer COVID-19 vaccines for a fee – these are fake – instead we are being urged to be patient with the vaccine rollout.

Not sure how vaccines are being distributed in AU, but presume it's similar to the US - the most vulnerable groups are first in line and licensed pharmacies, clinics and other traditional vaccinators administering the shots. Only those attempting to jump the line would be hunting down vaccines on the dark web and get taken in by this kind of chicanery.

With cases so low in Australia it's a little surprising that fake vaccines would gain much traction. Sad to say, the old saying holds true here: you can't cheat an honest man.

I can't imagine them doing very well over here. Apart from a small charge for the actual vaccine (around $20 on the pharmaceutical benefit scheme) the vaccination process is free. Dark web or not, where is the profit?

To me this is another "ho-hummer". The anti-vaxxers will jump on it and add it to their play-book.

I'm still waiting for the "facts" regarding the diphtheria and polio shots. At least a handful of folks must have died after receiving those shots and some must have still contracted the diseases. Anyone recall which political party or president weighed in on these vaccines?

How 'bout shingles? We should be able to dig up a few horrendous stories regarding this. Most likely big pharma pushing a profitable but needless drug.

I only wish that I shared the knowledge of some folks, so as to know which operations to undergo, which medicines to take, or which specialists to visit. Some folks seem to handle it with a single phone call to or from their senator or rep.. Sometimes even the the slant of their favorite TV or radio station will do the trick.
