Mass shooting/killing in Indianapolis FedEx this evening

Last year there were 19,379 gun deaths and it looked like we're set to top it this year. I'm so tired of hearing about the constitution as if it were the Ten Commandments. God didn't write the constitution, politicians did and they never could have imagined automatic weapons and the problems we have with guns today. If it's no longer working for us, and is now working against us, we need to change it.

From all info I have garnered, "more guns" is the answer, and everyone is in favour of the ten commandment's 2nd amendment (according to polls).

If I remember the saying correctly, it was along the lines of... "we need more good guys with guns". The NRA.

The dolts who dreamed up that empty saying forgot that for every good guy you sign up to get a gun, you sign up another bad one, and so the merry-go-round keeps on turning.

My opinion of a "good guy with a gun", the guy who leaves his gun at home.

From all that we Canucks are hearing and seeing north of the border, the American people don't want change.

Aunt Marg just clued me in that this thread is already underway. I started another thread on this that should probably be deleted. One thread is enough and this one is well underway.

As I said in that thread, there is not much more for me to say other than here we go ... again.

How does one become so thoroughly despondent that they would do something like this? Maybe it's just a sign of the times and a reflection on our country's economic structure where, unless you're born into a well off family, you're pretty much screwed.

The identity of the shooter hasn't been released yet, which is kind of curious. I'm sure they know it by now. I can see keeping the identities of the victims private until their families are informed and allowed to process their emotions a bit before they're swarmed by the press, but why protect the identity of the shooter?

Easy, the same as this imbecile in Florida.

Which brings me to my next point of contention... there is no "good guy or bad guy with a gun".

Only an idiot confronts anyone over a mask issue. The "Confronters" are wearing masks, so why play "Mask Police," especially NOW, when people have been on edge for the past year over unemployment, & other problems caused by Covid?
Reminds me of stupid drivers who start a road rage incident when they feel they've been wronged.
Such people never grew up.

These killers spend all winter ruminating about how ruined their life has become, then spring happens and nice weather gets them moving.

This has now become the norm in the 🇺🇸 USA unfortunately.
As long as the NRA continues to have the ($$) control over members in Congress, there will NOT be any means to limit access to assault weapons that do not belong on the streets of America to begin with.

...and, as long as there are cultural influences that cause weak minded people to look to assault weapons for an outlet to express their special kind of mental illness, there will be a never ending cycle of mass murder.

i think people are just losing their sh*t and going off the deep end. probably partly because of the pandemic. but when you face facts...nobody listens anymore...nobody cares and people are just horrible to each other. it's no wonder they flip out and go on killing sprees.

45 mass shootings in one month according to CNN. Not sure here they are getting their facts on that number. What puzzles me is they kill themselves after they are done shooting. What is going through their minds as they decide to go ahead with the idea then kill people then themselves? Madness.

Think some to chicken poop to take themselves out commit such heinous crimes so they have no other choice because they know anything 'good' about them is gone.

As is often the case with events involving people, we don't know what we don't know since we can't climb inside the heads of these shooters. Quite possibly, it is "all of the above", meaning that any one (or all) of the theories mentioned so far in this thread regarding the "why" of these shooters could be possible. I suspect it is doubtful that they all were "inspired" by the same thing since they are individuals with different "wiring" and life stories even if there are commonalities between them.

(CNN)When eight people died in a mass shooting at an Indianapolis FedEx facility Thursday night, the news was compounded by a string of similar incidents that preceded it.
Starting on March 16, when eight people were killed at three Atlanta-area spas, the US has had at least 45 mass shootings, according to CNN reporting and an analysis of data from the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), local media, and police reports.
Analysis: A return to normal in America means a return to violence
The US has seen at least 147 mass shootings in 2021, according to data from the GVA, a non-profit based in Washington.

CNN considers an incident to be a mass shooting if four or more people are shot, wounded, or killed, excluding the gunman; so does the GVA.
Americans when is enough enough?
