Do you remember the first time you rebelled against authority, or society,or your teachers or parents? How old were you? What did you do?
Wow, you little rebel!Probably aged 7 when I refsued to go to school after we'd moved from one city to another, and we were getting bullied at school because of our different accents... My little Brother and I would pretend to go but we'd not go in at all, and just truanted ,although we were too young to know to go anywhere else, we'd stand outside the school looking through the railings...
When a teacher saw us, she grabbed me and pulled me into the school forcefully so I bit her hard on the hand and she screamed and let go...and I ran away again...![]()
That's like me. I left the church at age eight and never returned to ANY church!Aside from "running away" a few times, and other common expressions of childhood defiance, I was 15 when I told my parents I didn't want to go to either church or synagogue anymore. Mom was sad about it but dad was ok with it. That was an empowering experience.
I stuck with it for my parents' sake, even had my bar-mitzvah. But from about the age of 11 it felt like hypocrisy on my part because I stopped believing any of it by then, especially when the 2 (Catholic and Jewish) are so incongruous. That's like me. I left the church at age eight and never returned to ANY church!
I saw the hypocrisy at that age, called my Dad to come and get me and told him I'm NEVER going back!
I LOVE THAT!!!!After a week or two of going to school for the first time ~ as a first grader ... I was tired and exasperated and asked my mother when was I going to get PAID? She started laughing at me and I had a fit. She'd tell everyone the 'story'.![]()
