Marriage breakup is always sad but these two people are icons which makes them very news worthy. After reading this today, his wife must be very understanding.

After marrying his wife, Bill Gates would spend a long weekend every year at a cozy beach cottage in the US state of North Carolina — with his old girlfriend.

The billionaire Microsoft founder made sure the bizarre arrangement was part of the deal when he married Melinda French in 1994, he told Time magazine in a 1997 profile.

“We can play putt-putt while discussing biotechnology,” Gates said of his private getaways with fellow technology nerd and ex-girlfriend Ann Winblad.

Gates even sought Winblad’s approval before proposing to his wife.

“When I was off on my own thinking about marrying Melinda, I called Ann and asked for her approval,” he said, adding that Winblad gave the other woman the thumb’s up.

Winblad recalled: “I said she’d be a good match for him because she had intellectual stamina.”

Gates — who announced with Melinda on Twitter on Monday that they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage — revealed that he and Winblad started taking an annual trip to his ex’s Outer Banks home when they began dating in 1984 after meeting at a computer conference…………

Whatever works for them.. I think and could be wrong that this has been a long time coming but we just became aware of it.

Bill Gates obviously thought highly of his wife and therefore did not seek a prenup. Not that anyone cares, but, my husband and I do not have a prenup. However, we have encouraged our children to have one.

I guess when you have $$$$$$$ you can call the shots as to how you conduct yourself in your marriage. Unfortunately, it gets a bit old and difficult to deal with no matter how much money you have.

The author of this attack on Bill Gates and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is Ruben Rosenberg Colorni, who has obviously poured a tremendous amount of dislike of capitalism, the wealthy, and the western world business community into his article. From what I can find about him (which isn't much), he is a far-left, old-fashioned socialist, who would like to see big business crash and fail, no matter what it is.

He also seems to be shouting a lot of militant Palestinian propaganda against Israel, equating the Gaza strip to the Warsaw ghetto, etc.

He is showing pictures of various Gates enterprises in third world countries, and finding something terribly wrong with every one of them. Just goes to show that the left wing extremists can be just as nutty as those on the right.
 
I have to confess I’m somewhat surprised by the online interest in this?
I mean do we know these people or care?
There’s 2 cliches that come to mind, “ No one knows what goes on behind closed doors” and “There’s 3 sides in a divorce,hers, his and the truth is somewhere in the middle”

They met in the early 1990's and married in the late 1990's. He was already extremely wealthy. If memory hasn't failed me he was the wealthiest man on earth when they met.

The Gates Foundation, that they both worked very well together at as a team, finances numerous very worthy causes and has made a great big difference in the health, education and lives of the poorest in this world.
Using their wealth to help others was/is their main focus and activity since late 1990's.
She was a BIG influence on him to make that happen.
They worked great as a team to very carefully and diligently research what causes and projects they would finance. They wanted to choose where the money would have the biggest positive impact.
And strove to fix/cure the root cause of a problem not just throw moony at the symptoms. She also insisted that they raise the children to be caring, giving, individuals not spoiled Paris Hilton wealthy brats.
He has always been difficult to deal with. I don't know, but maybe his 13 year battle with Parkinson's has made him a bigger challenge and taken it's toll on their relationship. The other statements are fact this last comment is just my speculation.

OMG, is that ever staggering!

Life is good for the super wealthy. ✔️

Begs me to wonder what sort of fallout Americans will see in respect to such mass land holdings by one individual on real estate prices. My guess is in the coming years, and not so many years away, those who don't own property in your country won't have to worry, because no one will be able to afford property other than the super rich.
 
It's all over the Internet, and don't blame their divorce on it ... but Bill Gates had a yearly getaway with an old girlfriend ..
and Melinda knew all about it for years. They claim she gave her approval to it. .. (Hard to understand the super rich)
