The Latest Episode in the Ongoing Israeli Hamas Conflict

Hamas is a terrorist organisation and needs no apologists from any civilised nation, least of all from you in the United States.
Good Lord... this comment is precisely why we can't have political discussions on this forum.!!

I have absolutely no doubt this thread will be closed ASAP...

hollydolly obviously this individual is in some odd way mistaking the clear fact that this thread is in no way, shape or form a political subject but an analysis of an ongoing historical military conflict between two warring nations. If this thread is closed it won't be on my account as every clear thinking member here well knows my personal policy on threads that I initiate, good or bad, agree or disagree, or even to agree to disagree, back and forth or whatever makes other members with balance and a sense of fair play here which has to include even some types like this individual feel superior in nature to other members in good standing. Like it or not we must tolerate all even the intolerable. It is what it is.

BTW: I think the US bashing remark as demeaning as it is, is an especially nice touch exposing the individuals one sided cultural derision. Shame.

Israel has long been a U.S. ally. They are what is called a strategic ally, meaning that because of their location in the Mid East, it allows the U.S. to have a presence to protect our interests, which is OIL. However, because of their strategic location in the Mid East, other countries also have a relationship with them, including China.

The U.S. has given them billions of dollars in aid and also helped to build up their military might. When I visited Tel Aviv, I thought it was one of the nicest, calmest and friendliest cities that I had ever been to. Years ago, I went to Tel Aviv to train the pilots on the weapons systems on the
F-15. Now they are flying F-35's. The F-35 is a great dog fighter and the IAF is a rock solid bunch of fighter pilots. They train daily.

As of today, there is a lot of unrest in that part of the world, again.

Whoa, hold on there. I made no anti US remark, nor would zi.

My comment was meant to indicate that the nation who suffered 9/11 have no sympathy for Hamas and its murderous objectives.

Don't bet on it. The U.S. has had a shift in politics (there's that nasty word). I can't continue writing or I will get in trouble with the moderator, but you should read some of the reasons why the U.S. may be aiding Hamas due to Israeli being so much more advanced militarily. After all, the U.S. built the Israeli defense systems and aided them with purchasing planes and armaments. The Palestinians and Hamas have joined together, but will never be able to take down Israel. They can, however, do enough damage to cause chaos and destruction to the country, especially if they take out Jerusalem, which is a beautiful city and at dusk, it becomes even more beautiful. It could turn out to be another Beirut.

The two women standing in front of the tank are kinda hot. (IMHO)
Israeli women are beautiful and even friendly. They enjoy being with Americans, but would probably not form a relationship with an American on their home soil. There are too many differences between the two, but in the nightclubs, they love to dance. I never seen anyone that had more energy than an Israeli woman. I don't know why that is, but it must be in their blood. It's not all good. I really don't care for their food.
Israeli women make good pilots.

I agree, my mom was Jewish.

Am surprised this political thread has not been closed.

Why? One person posted an opinion that could be construed as having a political slant ...one that actually doesn't even make sense since all but a few nations characterize Hamas as a terrorist organization. For this thread to be considered politically offensive on SF, I'd think we need actual Israeli and Hamas SF members...

The OP documents a current world conflict from a variety of sources.

I can't see how it is political.

Hamas denies the right of Israel to exist.

1939 - 45 should have taught us the lesson of ignoring such views. Keep it in the open under public scrutiny.

For the record I knew people in the King David Hotel in 1946

Does that not make you Jewish by Birth ?... just asking, I don't know how it works ?
I'll answer. Yes, Jew is a race, not just a religion. You can be of Jewish faith and not be a Jew.
My mom was a Jew because her father was Jewish by race as well as faith. Her mom was Italian and Black, and Jewish by faith.
My dad was mostly Irish and Catholic, but I'm not an Irish-Italian-Jewish-Catholic-Black-American, right? There are no race-boxes to tick for Catholic.

My great-grandmother was Black. You don't see it in me and my brothers at all, really, but you can see it in my sister. Oddly, she has straight hair but me and one of my brothers have very, very curly hair.
My dad was super white. Like glow-in-the-dark white. Had some powerful genes, I guess.
Personally, I think my great-grandma was probably of mixed race, but nobody seems to know for sure.

I don't follow the news that much. Things were relatively quiet. What triggered this now?
Same dispute that's been going on for decades.

My understanding is that Palestinians recently fired a bunch of missiles at Israelis, and Israel fired back, intercepting about half of them. I don't trust all news sources I've looked at so far, so I'm still fishing around, but there does seem to be a consensus on how this one started.
