Eurovision Song Contest has come around again,..,watching?

The second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, (called Eurovision, though nowadays countries as far away as Australia take part I believe).

Believe it or not I used to be a fan, even up until ten or so years ago, especially when most singers used their home countries language instead of English, and often incorporated unique cultural traits or aspects in their performances.

Will you be watching, (if you have access to tv coverage?)? :)

I have put the you tube broadcast in entertainment.Which is where i’m watching it...via a VPN.No annoying BBC commentary. Some good songs so far.Especially Estonia and Grrece.
Portugal to win if they get through!
(Portugal did qualify)

I agree on the commentaries these days, pale imitations of the great Sir Terry Wigan, he'd have had something to say about the four presenters chosen,...., one was a giant wasn't she, (nice girl though). :)

"For all those who missed it", (and in truth I could only be bothered to watch the odd snippets, and had chosen the Bulgarian entry as my favourite, though admired a few others performances, and am not displeased a genuine rock band won), these were my highlights:

A ten year old boy from Greece was chosen to tell everyone the number of votes their country's panel had given to the best ten or twelve songs/singers/groups or whatever, and did a really great job. As I've chosen this as my number one highlight this says something about the rest of the show, (but he was the youngest ever to do this, so worthy of comment for the confidence shown).

The UK entry got zero votes from all the country's panel votes, and zero votes from all the other thirty eight country's telephone in votes by members of the public, the only performance to achieve this feat and they deserved exactly this result for presenting such dross, (the last time we took part in 2019, there being no show possible last year due to the pandemic, the UK was last then too, so we're consistent if nothing else).

The winning band from Italy looked mean and moody all night, (just as a rock band should I suppose).

The massive presenter lady didn't disappoint, and we saw plenty of her, though the black lady presenting the show was the pick of the four I felt in terms of talent and personality.

Other performances worthy of a brief mention were the riske, or almost pornographic ones from the likes of Cyprus, the Edith Piaf like entry from France who came in second I think, Germany's novelty act came in second to bottom, so almost as bad as the UK, though I enjoyed their efforts more than ours, and there you have it in a nutshell, "a great show" but without any irony "a greater effort to put the show on in these circumstances" (as many said). :)

Grahamg, you're right about the young Greek lad. he was the only one who didn't want to make a speech about how 'Oh my god, what an Amazing show'. I found myself shouting at the telly , "Get on with it and give us the ******** scores".

As for the scores, it seems that while the UK can produce some great songs and performers, it just can't produce the sort of song that's needed for Eurovision. Ah well, at least Germany, Spain and the Netherlands didn't do very well either.
