Aliens, UFOs, UAPs...

UFO means "unidentified flying object." That's all it means, just "unidentified." It doesn't mean it's extraterrestrial, being controlled by some other entity, or from some Twilight Zone "other dimension of space and time." There's something in the human mind that doesn't like unanswered questions. So we try to make up scenarios to explain things that we have no answers for.

I agree with Gardenlover. If my space ship was tuned into the news stations from earth, you can bet I'd lock my doors when flying by this planet!

I'm not convinced every one of the UFOs or UAPs are necessarily space craft.

They could be the actual alien beings themselves.

Who's to say that these beings from distant galaxies or wherever they're from, even need spaceships or some type of vessel to traverse the universe?

I'm hoping that after our bodies die, we become those alien beings who can travel the universe (or multiverse if you believe quantum physicists) at will and cover vast distances in the blink of an eye.

Travel through time, etc.

I read a sci. fiction story years back that theorized that maybe Earth was a prison planet, a dumping ground for the universe's criminals and we'd all be given false memories of growing up here so we didn't realize what was really going on.
The more and more I think about our existence on planet Earth, the more and more I believe we are nothing more than a science experiment, controlled by the minds and hands of a far more advanced civilization of alien beings.

In other words we are nothing in the big scope of things.

I'm sure almost everyone knows what UFO stands for. The question is, what is it? And if not ours, who's?

unless there is some reallllly strange physics involved I dont believe these little things we see and imagine are alien space craft. to small to travel the vast distances from there to here across the universe. not big enough to carry the necessities for life(unless suspended animation) or fuel(again strange physics) like einstein rosen bridge(wormhole) or an invisible to our detection means of a mother ship. the 'first' ufo were sighted over mount rainier and missed named ever since.
the pilot that sighted those stated they acted like a saucer in the air, the way they weaved back and forth thus the saucer name for all things alien. actually what he saw and later mentioned was a flight of canade geese. and of course the media picked up on the UFO aspect. way back in the 50's I recall seeing many videos of odd flying things. I actually saw a UFO while at a drive in theatre.

the bugs were flying around in the light from the projector and flew in circles or arcs when out of the corner of my eye I saw one make a complete 90 degree turn unlike all the other bugs.

Your post is a good one, CD, in that it spotlights just how uneducated mankind is in relation to all things space.

Extract taken from this article I was just reading.

"The truth is that interstellar travel and exploration is technically possible. There's no law of physics that outright forbids it.".

Mankind just thinks he's smart.

There have been a lot of stories in the news and media outlets recently about UFO sightings. Personally, I think it's possible that Earth has been visited by far more advanced beings from other planets. Hell, they could be flying around our planet right now, scoping us out, just for the hell of it. They probably have all their physical needs taken care of through advanced science, and now they're just out exploring other solar systems. And the reason they haven't made contact is because we're a primitive civilization compared to theirs. It would be like humans trying to communicate with bugs. They're looking for other advanced civilizations.

That's my theory, anyway.
My theory is that Earth's life forms are a product of an extraterrestrial science project, with the petri dish containing the human "experiment" going terribly wrong.
Mankind has god-like powers now, we can manipulate genes and create new species, we can destroy all living creatures(except cockroaches) in just a few minutes. Mankind has the power of a god, just not the wisdom to go along with it.

I think your explanations oversimplify the issue.

Just this morning on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, they did a segment on that very subject.

Senior Pentagon analyst made the point that these latest sightings were backed up by several sources including, the observations of highly trained Navy pilots who watched them for much longer than the short video clips we're seeing, multiple radar readings from both the aircraft and the carrier, videos of the same objects from multiple angles.

This is not the 50's anymore when flocks of birds or swarms of bugs could be mistaken for something else.

There are actual objects that are 100% known to be objects, not birds, but the nature of them is not known.

At any rate, a Pentagon report is due to be released publicly in the very near future, so we will soon know what the govt knows.

Should be interesting.

Murmurr, of course everyone knows what it stands for. The point I was making was that calling something a UFO doesn't mean it is from some other planet or galaxy. It just means it's unidentified.

Anyone know the total number of people in the world that just disappear annually never to be found? Below are the stats from 10 years ago.

Among law enforcement officials, the common wisdom is that 95%-98% of those who go missing reappear within 48 hours. While these statistics may provide some temporary comfort to those whose loved one has gone missing, it diminishes both the real numbers of those who go missing, and the emotional havoc such a disappearance wreaks upon family, friends and associates of the missing person. These statistics also conceal another: globally, 607 people go missing every single day, without a trace. Over a year, this totals 221,644 missing individuals; over twenty years, this totals 4,432,880 - more than the population of New Zealand, or almost the entire population of Ireland (2011 statistics).

I bet they lock their doors when they drive by our crazy planet.

Although they may stop for our music.
Reminds me of something I read a few years back discussing the Voyager spacecraft that was sent out into space in 1977 with a golden record with a variety of Earth's music on it; somebody said if we ever do get a message back in answer to that, it'll probably be, "Send more Chuck Berry!"

I’m still trying to see a UFO. I’ve heard a lot of theory’s and seen a lot of movies and tv, but I personally have never seen anything to convince me one way or another. Now, if one parks in my carport tonight, I’ll be the first to admit you are all right.
Whatever you do, Paps, promise us that if one does land in your carport tonight, at least allow the little green men to take you out for a quick flight in it it, and take some pictures for us, too! :)

I wonder how redacted the Pentagon report will be. Although the U.K. released their files (of which I have a copy) years ago, some things were redacted. I can't wait to see what the Pentagon reveals.

Anything that's produced by government, I automatically discount and don't believe, so I'm not holding out any hope for truthful information with any sort of integrity behind it.

The information I believe is that of pilots and other reputable people who's stories jive with honest-to-goodness reality, not some concocted slurry of lies and deceit put out by some cheap government released papers.

I tend to regard those who fervently disbelieve everything the govt says about the same as people who believe everything they're told.... they're just not being logical.

Sometimes the govt lies to cover things up and sometimes they are honest.

Different circumstances require different approaches.

Other than to prevent mass hysteria, something I do not think would happen in this day and age, I cannot see how redacting this report beyond being recognizable, would help the govt or any agenda they might have.

As OneEyed, mentioned, the U.K. released their files and redacted information, so I suspect the mirror same will hold true when the Pentagon releases it's files/findings.

I have wondered if the official position through the years would have been more open without the Orson Welles War of the Worlds (1938 radio drama) and the resulting mass hysteria that took place following it.

I'm trying to think of something of significance that our gov't has been honest about lately.

The Pentagon probably won't release UFO documents that they don't want to release, so I agree we probably won't get documents riddled with thick black lines. If any UFO-related discoveries are being withheld I honestly don't think it's to prevent mass hysteria (not in this day and age, like you said), I think it's to keep them secret for reasons of national security or for scientific or economic reasons.

So then the question becomes: is that a problem? I believe all governments classify certain information on a "Need to know" basis.

I think they are honest about a lot of things. The COVID situation for one. Occasional medical problems associated with the vaccines. I mean, the list of subjects that could apply here is too long and varied to even attempt to cover, but I would wager the vast majority of topics the truth comes out.

I was watching This Week With George Stephanopoulos yesterday (as I mentioned in an earlier post) and they did a segment on this subject. One of the panelists, Ret. Marine Colonel and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Steve Ganyard, addressed the issue of govt secrets and conspiracies, etc. He made the comment (@ 2:30, of the video below) that "I think that anybody who's worked in the US government before knows that the US government is completely incapable of complex conspiracies or keeping sensational secrets.

Here's the entire segment, uploaded to YouTube by yours truly...

Not making this a political post but most governments always want to appear in control and to know what is going on. With UFOs they can't control or explain them. Which is why I'm surprised at this release and coverage the story is getting. Either these are more prominent than lead to believe and they are prepping the public for greater revelation or it's a distraction for something present or in the future.

My thoughts, too.
