Working a cash register.

The only job the state told me I can work because of my neuropathy in my feet. They said I can't wash dishes or any job that I'm on my feet. Is working a cash register a good job? What about operating heavy equipment?

How old are you Robert? There's plenty of seated jobs that you can do other sitting at a cash register. Have you thought about driving? And looking at your avatar, a motor cycle courier might appeal, just have a good think about it and don't be fobbed off by petty bureaucracy.

I'm 60 years old and also partially blind in my left eye.

I'm no doctor, but IMO working a job where one is standing, is far more healthier than a job where one is sitting, but as Horseless so mentioned, I believe there are other opportunities for you.

Depends what kind of an establishment you would cashier in. If it's a grocery store you might be expected to pack customers grocery bags and lift them. You have to be able to lift 40 lbs. Think about this when choosing.

I don’t ever remember seeing a person operating a cash register who wasn’t standing most or all of the time. I think exploring some type of seated desk job would be the place to look.

That was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned getting a job where you don't stand on your feet. I think the type of job you can do depends on your health- and how much you can physically do.

You press the quote button . Eliminate all words except the ones you want . Make sure you don’t eliminate the persons name or you will eliminate the quote function. Click down until you are ‘out’ of the quote area and write your message.

In the lower right-hand corner of each reply you'll find LIKE, QUOTE, REPLY, click on REPLY, and that will auto-quote the post you want, Fuzzy.

I assume you'd be on your feet if you're working a cash register unless you're blessed to find a store that has a seat at their register. Perhaps an accommodating supervisor would make that happen for you.
