High profile and/or celebrity attorney F Lee Bailey has died at 87. Famous clients included O J Simpson & Patty Hearst. Had some issues early this century, redeemed himself salving his license/career. I remember first hearing about him as the lawyer for Sam Sheppard during his second trial. Also was a Marine pilot.

Yes, he did speak to Zodiac but Zodiac asked first for Bailey. Only it wasn't Zodiac but some man in a mental hospital.

Aha, thanx. Belli was more of a tort lawyer IIRC whereas Bailey was a crime lawyer. The real Zodiac (so far as I recall he was not caught) would have needed the latter whom, I'm sure, would have done a good job of defending him.

I don't think he paid the Goldmans for killing their son. Apparently he did pay his lawyers with memorabila and autograph revenue.

Alot of those lawyers probably didn't care because that trial gave their career a shot in the arm or in Bailey's case reminded everyone he was still there ready to go.

Robert Shapiro headed the Dream Team and was critical of their tactics citing what he called the "race card". He made more money than anyone else because the publicity enable him to get many commercial endorsement. Ironically he also forgot that it was co-prosecutor Chris Darden who actually started the race card matter.
