Good for you!Yes, always when I can afford to do so.
yes I've seen many of those videos too....they buy them shoes and jackets, and bedding..as well as that days' lunch...I don't like giving money at intersections, I worry the light will change and I'll be holding up traffic. When I was young and lived in an apartment building there was a bench across from a bus stop that had an old (seemed old to me when I was young) alcoholic man that slept on the bench and would ask for money. I'd give to him even tho he'd no doubt spend it mostly on alcohol. He kind of felt like family since he was there all the time.
I'd much prefer to just pay taxes and have agencies that provide the money to people in need, because I can't tell who is genuinely in need and who is panhandling as a career.
But I love that other people are so much better than me. I had a coworker a few years ago who would make a big bag of sandwiches and go downtown and hand them out.
And I like to watch the YouTube videos of people interviewing homeless people and giving them stuff, will try to paste a sweet video link.
Rather amusing because you are judging them as honest.Yes, I do. Whether they live on the street or have a 5 bedroom home - if they are out there, they need it for some reason or another and it's not my place to judge them.
Some women fake pregnancy & borrow other people's kids & have them sit with them.Beggars often stand by the exit lane near my local Wal-Mart. If I’m in the lane and come to stop where they are standing, I’ll give them up to five dollars. Some are legitimate, others are frauds; some have dogs with them, perhaps as props. They seldom stay positioned for more than 15 minutes as cops will rouse them out...
No.. that's not judging them. I don't judge them as to why they need it - honest or not, I give when I can.Rather amusing because you are judging them as honest.
It has nothing to do with why they need it. It has to do with whether they need it, or whether they're lying & scamming to get it.No.. that's not judging them. I don't judge them as to why they need it - honest or not, I give when I can.
Very nice...Yes, me. One time I didn't have any money to give him, but I did have food in a bag. So, I motioned for him, and reached back and gave him the food. He smiled and continued holding his sign. It was a cooked chicken and garlic bread ready to bake.
