Today is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.
Mike.
When I was young & dumb, I never understood people my age (85) going to Florida or Texas about November. Now that I'm older & WISER I can understand why they went. I hate snow, short days of sunshine & cold.
Take me with you.you could park me in equatorial latitude and I'd be happier than the proverbial pig in...
I’m not designed for dark winter days.Yes and it saddens me, that the days will be getting shorter, as this hemisphere starts swinging farther from the sun...
I’m not designed for dark winter days.
Both, but the reference was from the latitude. Canada.Jules...? From north of 49 in years? Or, north of 49 in latitude...?
But we are on a 365-day holiday, at least I am, even moreI think we need to make the beginning of the 4 seasons (no not he singer dudes) a week long holiday with 5 days off work!![]()
Thanks Mike for letting us know. I know that it is somewhere around June 21 but the media seems often to ignore this very important fact of life. I think it is because so far there is no money to be made from the longest day of the year. Not like Valentine's Day, Christmas, Easter, Mother's & Father's Day. These "holidays" we are reminded weeks ahead so that the shopping frenzy can start. After today, it is down hill for winter. Another thing to consider, where I live it is still lock down on most things so it appears that we are screwed for the 2nd summer in a row. But, not all is lost, because the politicians can play golf in a foursome. That is allowed! However, no visiting to anyone's house. Nada!Today is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.
Mike.
Oh Great! It's also the HOTTEST DAY! 93 degrees!Today is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.
Mike.
At least there is someone who loves fall and winter.I like fall and winter.
You are correct Iris, I got it wrong.Summer Solstice is tomorrow (June 21st) for me. There are still many days when it is light out until 9:30 p.m. I am enjoying the longer days.
It sucks, that's why I prefer summer warmth. I never have to worry about shoveling or slipping on ice.At least there is someone who loves fall and winter.
A lot of people suffer from depression in the winter that is when I feel my best.
Endless days to do my many projects, no yard work except to plan next years garden. Can't wait.
I do feel sorry for people who have to travel in the snow, I sort of forgot what that was like. Its been awhile.
