Free thinkers... are you a free thinker? Are you a free speaker?

Nonsense is subjective by reason and hard determination.

but please give me the address of that planet where no one thinks nonsense
I would tell you the planet I come from but the question has one plausible cause, "where no one thinks nonsense" you see on my planet everything is nonsense except for the horse.

doubt that it's a conspiracy, Ed. In my opinion it's what it always is -- money.
Money? that to but I was being facetious about the conspiracy theory. Maybe not, you know everything is controlled by bigger forces than you and I. How is you internet running? Do you use a VPN?

Thinking ain't free,
You are absolutely right Imagine the effort we would save if we bypassed thinking altogether? Maybe invest effort elsewhere where it can be used more productively. Jokes aside, why isn't thinking free? What is the cost for thought?

Is thinking involuntary? Does thought happen on its own? Can a person stop thinking? Do we think after we are dead? What is thought? Can we stop thoughts from occurring?

You have to be a free thinker when watching tv news. Leading up to the US election, watching CNN and Fox was actually quite funny. Fox pushing news to the right and CNN to the left - I used to switch channels and burst out laughing - any wonder Wiki decided to stop calling Fox News a reliable source. We have the same problem here in Australia, Murdoch’s Sky News is so totally biased in favour of the conservative government, it's embarrassing, while the ABC will take on any story likely to make it look corrupt and inept. So being a free thinker is vital in sorting out what is actually true.

Why do you ask about a VPN? And what are you asking about how my Internet is running? Please clarify.

I'm going to disagree on that point. Science, including social science, can be taught without bias. Students may form their own biases after they've heard all the facts, but that's true with any field of science.
My mistake, Murrmurr. I was thinking of doing science, not teaching science. I'm sorry I caused you to waste some of your digital ink on this page. LOL

Thoughts are the default condition of our minds. Yes, we can stop thinking -- if we can get deeply enough into meditation. However, that's conscious thought; unconscious thought still occurs.

When I was teaching this stuff back before the Internet, I used to say to my students:

"Watch the Sunday morning interview shows. Watch was the Republicans are saying that the Republicans are saying. Watch what the Republicans are saying that the Democrats are saying. Watch what the Democrats are saying that the Democrats are saying. Watch what the Democrats are saying that the Republicans are saying. Then make up your minds."

That, of course, was when these panel interviews always had politicians on them from both sides of any issue.

It was not an inquiry, but an example of big brother paranoia dating back to the 1960s/1970s. and my sense of humor. I hope I didn't offend you. It was not my intention.

No, there was no offense; I was just curious. I do my best to keep as anonymous as possible -- probably with diminishing results as it's becoming more and more difficult. :( There was a time when all someone had to do was get six months of a person's bank statements to know just about everything about his current situation. Now, it's probably just a few days on the Net for the most careful and less than a day for the least.

Thought of any kind is under attack in many societies due to in my opinion, the internet. People in most countries now can post anything they want and some of the conspiracies become the gospel to some sectors. The Cancel Culture is a prime example. We have never been more at each others throats than we are today. Remember when the news was limited to three or four sources and those sources were held responsible for their content? Never in the history of the world has there been so much confusion, conspiracies and suspicion than we have now and it is very very dangerous. Think about how many face-to-face comments we absorb versus from various media sources every day of your life now. Do we even know those people?
I will add something Robert Quinn wrote, "They became what they beheld." That sums up my post here in fewer words.

I think there have probably been all sorts of conspiracy theories and so forth. They just weren't as quickly contagious.
