This is an Aussie initiative, but could surely work anywhere.
Oh no, here I was thinking it was a brilliant idea, I could see an elder living alone or someone in a nursing home being delighted by a personal letter but didn't investigate further. It's been ages since I had a personal letter and miss it a lot. Sorry if it's a bum steer.I’ve had a quick read @mellowyellow
However it’s a bit in the expensive side if you want to join the hobby group ( gardening /cooking/ book ect ) $15 a MONTH
Not sure if you have to pay a fee to receive or write letters as it states ALL correspondence
is monitored / checked by the staff before being forwarded into the recipient
It's a sign of the times, even hand written letters have to be checked so that the vulnerable are protected from scammers.Letter ..
How is it different?
Unlike pen pal programs, Connected AU manages the Letter Box project to ensure the safety and security of all participants. We follow strict privacy policies and procedures. No personal, identifiable information IS EVER SHARED and each letter is APPROVED by our team before being sent to the recipient.
Yes, it sure is more work this way. But we know it makes a safer, stronger program for everyone involved.
