Favorite cooking utencils ......

good quality. well-balanced knives are essential, as are good quality pots, pans, and bakeware. I favor my microplane, my bench scraper and meat mallet. oh and my mandolin.

so many essential tools...

I use a 6" cast iron skillet for eggs, grilled cheese, a burger, etc...

The rest of my cooking pots are old copper-bottomed stainless steel Revereware that I've picked up at estate sales, flea markets, etc...

I also have a set of three nesting Pyrex bowls and a few small baking pans.

More and more of my cooking these days is done in the microwave. I use a few old clear glass Pyrex casserole dishes with covers.

I've done several purges of my kitchen items over the last several years and I'm about ready to do another.

A single person doesn't really need much in the way of kitchenware.

In a few more years all I'll need is a spoon! ;)

I have a stainless steel cookware set - fairly old but still in good shape. I have a Dutch oven. I just bought a "Green Pan" skillet for cooking eggs. I have my mother's cast iron skillets and her Nordic Ware bundt cake pans. Currently I am in love with my air fryer.

Is that 'green pan' as good as they say ?

To be honest I only just got it and have not used it yet. My sister in law swears it’s the best pan she’s ever used for preparing eggs. I have been using a Calphalon “slide” pan but its finish is cracking and it has lost its “slide” so it was time to replace it.

I have a little bit of everything and use it all depending on what I'm cooking. All of my gadgets and electric appliances are years old. My 1972 pressure cooker still is in use, my old Kitchen aid mixer is going strong as well as my crock pot and many other items as well.
I have no desire to buy anything new.
The photo shows an old long handled fork my mom used and I don't know what I would do without it. The tines are very heavy steel and I can tell how well done meat is just by the feel using this old fork. I can pick a whole pot roast out of the pot with just the fork.

My daughter bought a little gadget from the dollar store recently. She said it was fantastic for chopping ground beef very fine while it is browning, It is made of a heavy plastic material and won't damage nonstick pans.
Curiosity got the best of me so I bought one and used it to finely chop ground beef for tacos and I was surprised how well it works. fork.JPGground beef.JPG
