I only watched the first 2 minutes of this, it was like watching the return of the zombies horror movie.. and the trash and the filth ..OMG...why are those streets not cleaned? ... I have never seen anything like this in real life, are any of you unfortunate enough to live near anything like this ?

Where do these people get the money to be so drugged and drunk...?

You're fortunate. Almost any inner city in America has a zone similar to this. Sad but true. :(

Wow!! that's not true of the cities in the UK...not to say there aren't any rundown areas in parts of the cities ..but having visited many cities and their suburbs I can honestly say I have never in my life seen anything even remotely close to this... I'm really shocked...

This looks just like a scene from my experience, around 35 years ago, driving through East Hartford CT. Even the young children were out of it. I was looking for Dinosaur State Park and took a "short-cut". I remember the pedestrian who warned me not to go that way and I laughed! "I'm from NYC," I bragged. One of the worst things I ever saw. Driving with my mom & little boy, couldn't wait to pass on through.

Be glad over your side of the pond isn't as bad. I have traveled across this country of mine and have yet to find a city without this kind of mess... somewhere within it's boundary's.

Thank God we don't but it sure reminds me of some of the areas of New York City that I've seen. Clearly this video was shot in areas where there is lots of druggies, poverty and homelessness. If they cleaned it up, it would probably become a mess again pretty fast. And the city probably doesn't care to bother cleaning up those areas anyway. It might even be a safety hazard to clean up crews to try and do so unless they are preceded by cops who clear those areas out immediately beforehand. Another option would be to take the prisoners out there and put them to work. I used to see the men in orange jump suits picking trash up from the grassy areas around the entrances and exits to the highways.

It's not all bad. Money is being spent for the care & well being of people.

Since February, the Department of Health and Human Services awarded the largest contracts, worth more than $2 billion in taxpayer money, to a nonprofit and two companies. The recipients of the huge contracts were New York-based Deployed Resources LLC; Family Endeavors Inc. of San Antonio; and Rapid Deployment Inc., based in Mobile, Alabama. The massive contracts were awarded to the organizations without any bidding process, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Deployed Resources was awarded a $719 million contract by the Biden administration to establish a 1,500-bed emergency shelter for children in Donna, Texas. In March, photos surfaced from the Donna facility that showed packed conditions that one Democratic lawmaker described as "terrible conditions for the children." Government officials attempted to prevent Republican senators from taking photos of the conditions of the migrant facility.

Thank you for posting this video.

I have posted on several Philadelphia channels on YT and have some online friends in those channels who share these concerns. At one time a church was distributing brand new needles, sanitary wipes, and food to some of these sick people when they were stopped by the police. Several people (myself included) pointed out that under the concept of separation of church and state, the government has no business interfering in the affairs of the church. Part of the problem there is the corruption of Philadelphia police* who impeded the efforts of the church and who forbade them from returning. A sanction should be imposed on the government for daring to violate the Constitution thereby exacerbating this highly critical problem.

We used to have crews of prisoners cleaning up the trash along our State highways, too. However, for some reason, that activity disappeared about 5 or 6 years ago....I guess getting them out of the prison for a day, and letting them do something productive was a "Violation of their Rights". We don't have any major trashy areas in the cities and towns in our nearby area, but the larger cities are having areas not much different than the video in the OP. Around here, the biggest problem is people tossing trash out of their cars as they drive around....Dumb Chits!

Oh yeah, there are heaps of videos from that same area in Kensington. I thought about driving there to see firsthand. there's just something so fascinating about watching other peoples lives collapse into the pure misery of addiction. A series of videos on YouTube called Soft White Underbelly has some pretty gritty subjects. It's not the America I dreamed of as a younger man.

I was in Manhattan last week. The streets on the Upper East Side were filthy. Streets in the midtown business district were cleaner.

On my last trip to London there were homeless people everywhere. Across from our hotel a sporting goods store let people "sleep rough" in tents on the sidewalk in front of the store.

It's a long slide into anarchy and despair, but we're well on our way.

"Chain gangs" are basically unconstitutional. In today, it is a voluntary choice for possible time off a sentence, etc.

It’s a relatively minor issue where I live but it is a problem.

A much bigger problem is illegal dumping in vacant lots. It can be anything from a single tire or television to building contractors dumping construction waste, yard waste, etc... in an effort to avoid the time and expense of using the city or county dump.

I would prefer to see the government funds spent on enforcing the existing litter and dumping laws instead of spending money to keep cleaning up after people. IMO much of the cleanup should be done as community service by those caught making the mess.

It sort of goes along with my belief in the broken windows theory of law enforcement. If you strictly enforce the small quality of life laws it may help to prevent some of the more serious crimes.

I’m concerned that many upper middle class people believe that the solution is gated communities, private security, private schools, etc...

This is true.

The addiction epidemic and homelessness have combined to create this human disaster. I've seen this in cities in the US and Canada. It's undoubtedly going on in other cities, too. Perhaps it's happening inside vacant buildings rather than on the street.

As mentioned above, I participate in the Kensington channel discussions that we have on YouTube. One consensus we chatters have agreed upon is that if drugs and druggies were centered in a white suburban district the authorities would clean it up over night. Kensington is a largely Hispanic area and that is why the government doesn't give a godd@mn about it.

This made me tear up. I've not seen anything like this here or in my hometown.

Guess you've never been to New York City! Manhattan is so filthy that I hate going there. There are parts of my city that are known for drugs and illegal activity and some definitely need to be cleaned up but I don't think any of them are that filthy. I had seen or read something that addressed why the streets are left so filthy but I don't remember the reason that was stated or where I saw/read it. Where do they get the money? That's what illegal activity is all about. The women who aren't "fortunate enough" to have sugar daddy, prostitute themselves. They steal, some even from their own families. It's a sad, disgusting life. Some people are actually able to hold down jobs to support their habits.

we have strict laws on flytipping..anyone caught doing it faces high fines and or their vehicles impounded and crushed

That was a problem years back Los Angeles, but not for quite a while now. The city's solution was so simple that it's almost laughable.

The (city owned) trash company picks up large items at no additional charge. You just have to call or go to their website, describe the items (mattress, furniture, tires, TV, refrigerator, boxes of assorted trash, whatever) and they send a special truck on the normal trash pickup day. It really is as easy as that.

Construction companies hire dumpsters and include those costs in the price of remodels and other projects at private homes. In fact, rental dumpster is often the first sign that people are getting work done on their homes.

If people notice dumped trash we just call that same number or go to the website with an approximate address and description. The trash trucks come and get it within a few days.

I remember being sent to LA for work, and as we drove to the job site in the morning, there was a guy laying on the sidewalk with no pants on. Funny. I'm glad I live in a small town where I do.
