My Big Moment

It was 15 years ago on my 65th birthday that I did a magnificent swan dive Bungy Jump off the Kawarau Bridge in South Island New Zealand. The jump was over 200 ft and I went into the water up to my waist and recoiled almost back to the platform from which I dove, tied securely by my ankles. When I start feeling my now 80 year old bodys aches and stiffness I get out the video of the jump and it still gives me a adrenelin rush. I just may do it again on my 85th.BUNGY ME.jpgBUNGY.jpg

Very cool Lon, what a rush that must have been for you! :cool2: If you take the challenge again, be sure to record it, it would be great to see that! Bush Sr. didn't take much of a chance, he sky-dived with a partner, just as a child would. Lon is the man, and I agree, you look great in that picture! I saw a video blooper where the bungee cord was just a tad too long, and the jumper hit head on into the ground, not sure if he survived that one.

A. J. Hackett in New Zealand pioneered the Bungy Jump and has a great safety record. I was asked if I wanted a wet or dry jump. I obviously chose the wet jump into the river. Much better than over a concrete parking lot like some fools will do.

You know what , I have para-glided over the ocean in many places in Europe ...and I've always wanted to Sky-dive...( even tho' I'm afraid of heights)...but you know, nothing would induce me to Bunjee jump..:eek1:

Excuse me hollydolly weren't you one of the enthusiastic commenters "yessssssssssssss" to that wingsuit video where six guys jumped off the top of a mountain and glided (at 100 mph?) to the bottom and you're afraid of heights?

absolutely it was me, and yes as I said previously I go paragliding whenever I get the chance so the wingsuit thing would be a piece of cake...just don't fancy diving head first toward the ground at 80mph on a piece of elastic tho'...

I've done some crazy things, Ron, and might want to do some of them again but bungy jumping is not one of them. But like somebody said, "you da man." Good luck.

Wow, Lon, you have a lot of courage! I am scared of heights so bungy jumping is not something I will ever do, but I admire those who can try it. The only high place I can look down from without heart palpitations is an airplane.

You might try ZIP LINING, it's not as high as Bungy Jumps and you are quite secure and harnessed. I did that in Costa Rica above the rain forrest and it was quite fun.
