Who are we? (The thread on religion, that Lennon's "Imagine" receives not a single "Like"!)

We can point to many successful countries that have embraced democratic capitalism. Does anybody know of a successful country that has embraced democratic socialism?
The term "successful" is open to individual evaluation, a value judgement. I would say that a country is successful if the needs of the citizens are available, education, health, employment, affordable goods and services etc.

Here's a list of Socialist states, some using Marxist-Leninist model, some non-Marxist:

Thanks. Both lists make my argument for me.

Here's a "fun fact": Rolls Royce hasn't made cars since 2003. BMW owns the Rolls Royce brand. The company (Rolls Royce) makes jet engines and other industrial products.

That would make you, well, wrong again.

Your fun fact is right and mine was wrong. The fact remains: Rolls Royce a company manufacturing products for the rich (and their companies) had record profits during the world financial crisis.

Hmmm, China seems to be doing pretty good, for a socialist state governed by a communist party. #1 in the world in terms of purchasing power. #2 in the world, in terms of nominal GDP. China is also the world's largest exporter and second-largest importer of goods. China.

China switched to a mostly capitalist economic system years ago. Its total GDP is a reflection of its sheer size. In terms of GDP per capita (the only apples to apples comparison) China is at $10,600 and the US at about $65,000 per person.

Yes, the prime example of a capitialist-socialist-communist state in action.

We have strayed from the original question (see title of post) "Who are we?" The use (or non use) of a 'like' icon on a casual chat forum says nothing about who or what any of us is. I resent the implication that it does.

What was disappointing to me was that the song didn't receive a single "Like". My observation (and my thread) were food for thought.
