We're out of Afghanistan!

How can it be possible that you do not understand that it is all about money?
"It" is about so much else. War is profitable for some, true. But it costs money, lots and lots of money. Lots of it!

I don't know, man....try to think of something that's worth more than money; a thing that is worth just about any cost. Got it yet?

It's power, right? It's power. And there are things besides war that create great power.

Controlling trade is one. That's major. Forming alliances. Gotta have that going on, and you've got to collect more allies than your "enemies." That's a must. And, of course, you do that, in part, by controlling trade. Mutually advantageous trade. You want your allies to fare well, but not quite better than you. Naturally, you have to offer your allies (and all that trade) protection from the aforementioned "enemies" (who would have it all for themselves). And the best way to achieve and maintain all this is by forming, or at least encouraging, similar political ideologies, so that everyone involved can keep things moving with minimal friction. Global cooperation is the goal. And there's no question that people can prosper from that, if all goes well. Some more than others, yes, but some, more than ever before (because they started with very little).

So, yeah, I believe very strongly that it's about more than just money.

I can see that you do not understand. Answer these three questions correctly and you will begin to understand.

1). Who foots the bill for this "lots of money" you mention?
2). Who profits from the direct expenditure of that "lots of money"?
3). Who profits from arranging the deal of spending that "lots of money"?

HINT: One pays, two profit .... and it ain't the one who pays who's the recipient.

I know the answers. But there's a much bigger picture here.

My life is enviable, and I'm not even clost to what anyone around here would call a wealthy person.

I'm gonna try to get some sleep. Have a good one, Verisure.

You, as a tax-payer, are footing the bill for the war-making and the war-waging machine. Not being wealthy has nothing to do with it because you are paying anyway .... plus you are dying - well your sons are dying if you aren't ... and your grand-sons.

But put all of that out of your mind for the moment, and sleep well my freind.

Serious. Who else can possibly be responsible for this successful airlift without so much as one bullet being fired by the Taliban who up to now were supposedly the enemy? Trump? Bush? Name him.
Naw, you're just joshing me to see if you can get my head to spin and fall off onto the floor.

I just heard 75% of the Afghan population is under 25 years. So they have never lived under their rule. What a shock that is going to be and I wonder if they revolt/protest they will be slaughtered by the thousands.
That may be a good observation as to the future of Afghan politics. The older the average population is the more stabler the government becomes. With a young volatile population, stability may be hard to achieve without draconian suppression, which may backfire.

OK. You don't have an answer to successfully refute what I wrote. No problem.
You really, really are serious? Any president can start or finish a war. It isn't up to him. The dumber the president, the less likely he/she has any say in anything at all. Now ... the dumbest presidents in my time are Bush Junior and Biden. Waiting in the wings are people like Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson and a few more. Those people are all morons. So, the likelihood of Biden actually being responsible for leaving Afghanistan is zero. I remember when the US left Vietnam and some turkey jerk told me "Nixon was the only man with balls enough to get us out of there!" That was back in the early 1970s and I'm still laughing.

Exactly M ......saves me quoting verisure .....

Myopic conversation gives me a headache, but I managed to get 7 hours of peaceful slumber on an amazing mattress; another thing that would make me the envy of billions, if they were conscious of my existence.
