Why do some people find pleasure in hurting other people's feelings?

Revenge is another reason someone might try to hurt someone else's feelings. If someone wrongs you, you can pretend that it doesn't bother you, and you can say that you forgive that person, which you can do if the person apologizes, but forgiving someone who isn't remorseful doesn't work. The only thing that works is revenge.

Here's a well known example of a celebrity trying to get revenge for someone interrupting his show. He just snapped.

What would you do if you were a comedian and some inconsiderate jackass kept interrupting your act and you weren't able to stop them? No matter how much you tried to deal with them through humor, they just wouldn't let up? I think most of us would latch onto whatever attributes about that person they could, and the easiest thing to go after is that person's appearance — in this case, it's his race, but it could have been weight, level of attractiveness, anything you can use to hurt that person's feelings.

I don't believe that Michael Richards is a racist. He just lost it and used whatever he could to attack the guy disrupting his show. Or maybe he is a racist and this is what it took to bring it out. Of course, he paid dearly for his onstage breakdown.

I don't know how the person interrupted him. If I was the comedian I would probably interrupt the show and go sit next to the person (having the cameras following me, of course) and have a chat with the them, on the microphone. The show would go on and the person interrupting would get the attention he was seeking. I wouldn't try to hurt the person back!

Why do some people find pleasure in hurting other people's feelings?

I have always assumed it was the feeling of power they get from it. They can control how you feel, that is a power. Of course its a small and self centered mind that enjoys this kind of power.

Best way to combat it is to not give them that power. Just ignore it or let it roll off. You giving no power takes the fun out of it.
