Kitchen Layout

I've posted my kitchen pictures before on this forum I think, not sure if I've posted my kitchen in Spain tho'... this is it.. it has a serving hatch .It used to be completely incorporated into the living/dining room.. but we altered it to be one room, and have a serving hatch which is very common in Spanish houses..

I like it! I had to google serving hatch and I think I have one! Except it is over my sink and opens to my bed area. Since this is a studio apartment, it could be used as the dining area instead.

I love the layout of this kitchen. Notice the 3 ovens, the built-in refrigerator, plenty of cabinets and lots of counter space.
The only thing I'd add is a hanging rack for pots and pans.

It is a beautiful kitchen and in my previous life I would have loved it since I did a lot of cooking and canning. Now being disabled, I have a small kitchen that is designed for wheelchairs and walkers, or close enough to hang onto to everything while I cook. I have a tiny kitchen but in fact, I have a lot of room to prepare food and not have a small working space. I suppose you could use a wheelchair in that kitchen but its hard to prep ingredients sitting down. At least for me it is.

Yes a serving hatch is just that... it's usually a Hatch leading from the kitchen to the dining or living room... where food can be passed through... but of course if you have a hatch in a wall between any 2 rooms you can use it for whatever you wish

I am going to start calling mine the serving hatch, sounds classier than the pass through (which is what it is usually called here).

In my kitchen, most everything is either hanging or stuck to a magnetic strip. I like to be able to just grab whatever I need without having to rummage around in a drawer. I think I never got over working in a professional kitchen where everything is within sight.

One glance at your Arkansas kitchen tells me someone loves to cook. My kind of people.
You bet. (y) (y) That woman of mine makes great pasta and wonderful pizza. (learned from her old Italian grandma). She's real proud of that double convection oven too. Now, she wants another pot rack like that one down in the Florida house. :)

@senior chef, I love that magnetic strip, going to buy one.
If you can't find one that you like in your area, Amazon has dozens and dozens of lengths and styles. Just be sure to buy one that is long enough to carry all of your knives.
