What would you have done differently when younger to positively impact your Heath today?

I’m in pretty good health, but I would have been much more consistent about exercise, especially weight training to keep my body toned, and running for its aerobic/cardio benefits. I feel like I’m trying to play catch up these days with both! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I would have taken much better care of my teeth.

And even though I quit smoking many years ago, I would never have started to begin with.

What about you?

Controlled my weight and exercised more. Easier said than done...

I am amazed that my health is as good as it is given years of being overweight and not exercising regularly. But I know things would be better if I had done differently.

Oh well, can't fix that now, just have to try my best from here on...

I am lucky, except for the occasional cigar I have never smoked. And I attribute that 100% to luck, not my wisdom.

I would have never started smoking as a teen, but luckily I was smart enough to quit after 15 years. I also would have taken care of my teeth better, I wouldn't have baked my skin in the sun for hours all the time trying to get a tan, and I would have worn sunglasses to protect my eyes. Couda, wouda, shouda I guess. :) I've also made some changes in my old age, not to lose what I do have. 🤞

I know I should say there are things I would have done differently but to be honest, I'm not really sure I would have? Everything I've done have added to the person I am and I'm kind of OK with myself, mostly. Well, I think I would have tried to stand closer to the toilet bowl and be better about putting the seat back down o_O !

I really do get this. As I said I’m in pretty good heath for my age (pushing 70, no meds other than supplements, very mobile still) and like you, I’m ok with myself too.

It’s just…..if I’d known how much harder it was gonna be to STAY as healthy as I am now, I’d have done a much better job of laying that groundwork from an early age, so that I’d at least be staying even with the physical challenges that have arisen as I aged.

Instead, I feel like I’m constantly running to catch up.

Don't drink. Have never smoked or taken drugs., don't overeat.
Healthy mental attitude.
Decided I'm going to get younger every year.

Wow! Am I ever boring!

I would never have started smoking as well. I quit 4 years, 7 months ago and I've saved over 25 grand so far @senior chef and I smoke a pack a day so yes, you could save a bundle for sure!!

an apple a day

Growing up in the Big Apple I actually ate about an apple a day for many years. Confession: I did it not so much because I like apples (which I do, especially NY Golden Delicious apples) but because I always hated to brush my teeth. The result? There was a 16 year gap between dental visits ~ much to my surprise the dentist said my teeth were just about perfect!

Don't drink.

There were years in my life where I did not drink alcohol. In between there were years where I tanked up quite a bit. But late in life I became a confirmed teetotaler. All told, I've been on the wagon (by choice, not medical necessity) for 20 years. Looking back, I wish I had been an abstainer all my life.
