Two dogs in the dog play area, had not seen these dogs before. A large lab and a border collie/red heeler mix

Oh Aneeda I love this thread! I was just thinking how your stories of the hood were like the best sort of soap opera -- and then we get pictures! Squee!

I may have to make a character list to keep them all straight.

I already have Unreliable Jackie and Shady Donna down pat.

Some of them I know by their dogs. Making up drama for myself I imagine that Australian Shepherd's seldom seen father may be having an affair with the veterans seldom seen wife.

I'm not surprised everyone likes you. You're not only nice, intelligent and fun, you're also an exceptionally good listener. I laugh every time you sit down on your walker seat.

Yup, so far it has not been a disappointment 😂

This is the first time I have seen this Carine terrier, it may be the only one in the complex. She is 14 years old and her owner looks to be in her 20’s. Plus another green space.

So yesterday I was talking to Nicky. She works two jobs from home, her husband works one. They have three kids, a teenager, a 7 year old, and a 5 year old. Anyway, Nicky is on her patio and I am sitting in my walker on the sidewalk. Nicky has a cold.

This is the fourth time in the 10 weeks I’ve known her that she has gone for a Covid test. She has not got vaccinated, no one in her family has got vaccinated, so anytime they get exposed, or a virus, they get tested. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, we were talking about the situation with Henry when Donna pulls up in her wheelchair. A little chat and I asked Donna if she had ever pawmed anything and how did I do it. Jackie, like me, had not done this. Donna has. (Donna has been married 3 times, maybe she pawned all those rings 😂. I’ve been married twice. I returned the first set of rings to my first husband in an unkind manner. 😂)

Donna says they will offer very little and you have to decide if you want to do it. I do.

(I have a ring that I bought 10 years ago, only wore 5 times, if that, and I want to sell it. It’s lovely, but I’d rather have money. The first pawn shop offers less than 200, and says I should sell it on line. I’d get more for it. But I just don’t want to deal with it.

The next place was interested. I had hoped for 600 dollars. They looked at it in a jewelers “eye”. Then they put it in a machine to make sure the diamonds were real. They were. I also had a card that came with the ring. A gorgeous box that it came on as well. And it was 14 caret gold. They offer 280. Hmm. Yup, I took it. They also advised selling it on line, but, again, I did not want to do that.)

I also told Donna about some dog poop that needed to be picked up by the daycare. She was a bit snippy till I reminded her she asked me to tell her about places she missed. Then she said, that’s right, I’ll get over there in a couple of days.

Well, I walked this morning. This guy and his three kids get in his truck and drive the five car lengths to the daycare center. He backs his truck up till his rear tires hit the curb, thus blocking the sidewalk half way. Although, he knows I walk this way every morning. By this time I have walked to about his truck is. His waits and I walk past his truck before he does.

Then he walks past his truck, but he walks slightly off the sidewalk and, yup, plants his big foot into the dog poop, that I told Donna about last night. 😂. Serves him right for taking up the sidewalk with his truck. He walks a trail of poop down the sidewalk, up the stairs to the daycare until one of his kids tells him.

Then he gets upset at the daycare worker cause, in an apartment building filled with dogs, he has stepped in poop. 😂😂😂. (This afternoon I notice the rest of the poop has been picked up).

Jackie and I also talked about the Henry situation. She convinced me that I needed to get a refund of my deposit and I do. The breeder got really strange and insulting and I told Jackie what she said. Then today I return all the stuff I bought for Henry. I go to Texas in October, when I get back I’ll see then how I feel about a dog. 🤦🏻‍♀️

With the cold hitting us early (38 degrees) even less people are out walking so for a couple days I hadn’t really seen anyone when I ran into Pattie walking towards me. Hadn’t seen her in a week, I think. But we never know when the other person is walking. 😊

Said hi, talked about how we hadn’t seen each other, and she mentions she hasn’t seen Denise in a while. It is so strange. We know where each other lives, but when one of us disappears we don’t knock on each other’s door to check because 😂 we don’t want to bother anyone who doesn’t want to be bothered. It’s bizarre.

Anyway, Pattie, like me, is worried about Denise’s eye. She says Pattie was seeing the “boob doctor” and was going to ask him about her eye and she told her boobs had nothing to do with eyes. 😂. I told Denise the same thing. Seems old woman pretty much think the same.

Then Pattie tells me the story of how Denise saved her life. Yup, heard this story from Denise as well. 😊. Then Pattie says her blood sugar was 652 when she reached the hospital. 😮. And, yup, I sit down on my walker. Pattie says she has to finger stick because her phone doesn’t support the Libre2. I explain how the Libre2, works, show her my reader and explain she doesn’t need to use her phone, and that Medicare will probably pay for her to have Libre2 due to her high sugars and hospitalizations. She promises to check it out.

Then she says she is so tired of her two adult sons that live with her. 😳. Reminds me of the first day I met Jackie, and at the end of our conversation she asked me did I think she should live her husband 😳.

Anyway, Patties two sons have learning disabilities. In fact, Pattie has four sons. Three have learning disabilities, and the other son has other issues. One of her sons lives in a group home, two with her, and the other is “in the wind”. (I learn the fourth sons story from Denise.). The two sons work at Walmart. They hate Walmart, Pattie, hates Walmart, most everyone hates Walmart. But that doesn’t stop everyone from shopping and working there. 😂

Anyway, I listen to the Walmart issues concerning her son and tell her to check with an attorney or Adult Protection, she didn’t know about Adult Protection and I explain. Then she says, well, her boys might lose their jobs if she complains. Yup. I said, but they could get jobs at Target which is hiring. Pattie hates Target. 😂😂😂.

Pattie says she thinks all her sons became disabled because they witnessed their father die. 😮. He was cliff diving, missed the water, and died. I doubt this made the boys learning disabled, but I keep quiet. Her truth is her truth.

She wants to get remarried, she says. She’s been widowed 30 years. Reminded me of the mom of the little 9 year old Aussie who told me, in passing, that she moved to the apartment after she sold her condo. She lived in the condo for nine years and thought she would someone and get married but she didn’t.

So she sold it, and moved here. But she has a infant and a guy. So? Idk. 🤔. Anyway, I tell Pattie I got to finish my walk and I am freezing so off we go.

Nikki is outside on her patio all bundled up smoking, but I don’t stop to chat, too dang cold. Later in the afternoon I ran into Jackie. It’s a small world. 😂. Jackie gives what I have come to understand as her usual excuses for not walking together although now that we’ve run into each other we walk together. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

Then today, I run into Denise. Where you been she says? 😂😂😂

It’s a lovely neighbourhood with lots of beautiful dogs. We walk everyday and never say more than a few words to the people we pass. Guess there really aren’t that many when I think about it.

Denise says her daughter lives in the apartments as well. She points out her daughters apartment to me. Then she said she got a text from her daughter the other day. She had taken a picture of a lady who walks a lot and texted her mom about it. 😂😂😂. Yup, it was me.

Denise tells her daughter that yes, she knows me-Anna. That’s Anna she says. Except my name is Aneeda. But I don’t correct her. I have Denise in my apartment, briefly as she wants to see the two bedroom, she has a three bedroom.

I have been trying to find a home for my large giraffe picture. Neither of my kids like it and I don’t want it to be thrown away. Denise loves it and it will go with other pictures she has so, yup, giving it to her.

Then Denise says how she likes everyone in the apartments except, of course, Donna 😂. I am right there with her. She talks about how Donna kind of stalked her, and how strange she is, and how she had to talk to management about her. 😳. Yeah I can see that happening.

Donna had a recent run in with some kids; Donna was telling me about it. Donna’s daughter apparently said some pretty harsh things to the pre teens. Donna said some pretty harsh things to me about the pre teens. Anyway, management told Donna to leave the kids to them. Donna told me no one tells her what to do. 🤔.

Meanwhile Jackie tells me she might breed her French bulldog since the puppies sell for so much money. Ugh, just ugh. I really like Jackie but she works two jobs, has a difficult situation with her husband, and three kids. Now she wants to have puppies? Ugh just ugh. Plus I doubt the apartment will allow dog breeding-most don’t.

I will get Stella fixed a soon as possible. Her breeder said she would let us have a couple of litters. 🤔. Nope

Well, I get just the right amount of socialization and it keeps life interesting for sure. Plus some of their husbands certainly make my husband look better in terms of behavior towards me. At least I don’t have to deal with some of the extra crap that they deal with 😮.

We leave for vacation, back to Texas, October 6. The people apartment will have to live without me for a while 😂.

Of course, I speak with a great many more people on a casual basis. The people on the balconies and patios are always the same people. One balcony person likes to talk to me a lot, but from her balcony. This is hard on my neck, but occasionally I will sit and talk to her. I don’t know her name or I don’t remember it.

Her husband was recently diagnosed with CF. I was so surprised since he is 65 years old.

The other balcony person says hi and waves or just waves. I swear her cell phone never, and I mean never leaves her ear. Talk, talk, talk, on the phone, so strange. But, then, when I walk with Jackie she texts with her daughters and they live with her so, 😂😂. The talk on the phone lady has an elementary school age child who plays on the balcony.

Then there are the patio people who live on the ground floor. All the apartments have either balconies or patios. The patio people read a lot. And there are balcony dogs and patio dogs, dogs who are rarely walked in the green spaces 😮.

One neighbor tells of a third floor balcony dog who went potty so much on the cement, it started to drip through to his second floor balcony. 😱🤮. And sometimes the kids jump so much in their apartments that they knock down the ceiling light fixtures in the apartment below them.

Seems it’s never dull here. 😂

Enjoy your holiday and watch the road. Very glad you survived that close call!

Too cold now, too rainy, and so not anyone out.

I did see the saddest thing the other day. Apparently someone had abandoned their apartment and got evicted. The got junk truck was there, taking all the left behind stuff and throwing it away. It was so awful, the bits and pieces of someones life tossed away because they could not afford their rent.

I fear this will happen more and more.

We certainly can’t afford this apartment if he can’t work anymore
