I love black jelly beans. Easter is the only time I can eat licorice. I have to eat gluten free and all licorice contains wheat flour. A brand called Just Born sells gluten free black jelly beans. I usually stock pile them to last few months.

My Dad loved them. He consumed them most of his life until he parted 2004. I liked them too.

Apparently chewing Sen-Sens was somewhat scandalous for a "nice" girl in the 1920's. I guess it implied that your breath had something to hide.....cigarettes or liquor.

Once in a book, I read a description of a girl who "was no better than she ought to be" (a common put-down back then). She "rolled her stocking beneath her knees and chewed Sen-Sens"....horrors!

Back when I was a kid, my little friends used to razz me about wasting a nickel on a packet of Sen-Sens. I liked Blackjack chewing gum, too...

@Murrmurr,I love Sen-Sens. The original ones. I bought them a few years back and they were a knock- off. They were tasteless and had a washed out lavender flavor.
I wonder where the name came from?
