Meet Psychotria elata, better known as the Hooker's Lips or Hot Lips plant.



Found in the tropical rain forests of Central and South America and unfortunately vanishing along with so many other species because of deforestation, the Hooker's Lips plant uses its vibrant red color to attract pollinators such as butterflies and hummingbirds. The lips are only full for a short period of time before they open and reveal their flowers.
