What’s the spiciest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Habanero dip

Open air bar just outa Del Rio

Stopped to wet our whistles

Big bowl of corn chips on a little table

Tiny bowl of Habanero dip

Sat

ate

Tongue......mouth.....on fire

Turns out beer with Habanero is akin to gasoline on a fire

Wrapping my tongue with a flour tortilla helped some

Hung my head out the window with my mouth open most the way to El Paso

Years ago, in my twenties, I won a pair of tickets to eat at an Indian buffet. I took my sister with me. Everything looked scrumptious. I filled my plate, eagerly salivating, and innocently thinking everything would taste good. Well, I happened to pick the spiciest and hottest food on my plate to eat first. Don't know what the name of it was, but it literally burned my mouth and ruined the whole dinner for me. I was hopping around and pointing at my mouth. No amount of water helped. Had to leave right away, and my sister didn't have a chance to take one bite after she saw my pain.

I hear that having something sweet with a spicy meal helps, but there was nothing sweet in that meal! That's why I shun Indian restaurants. Don't want a repeat performance. :)
I always thought most of these dishes were served with a cool yoghurt dish.

Thai foods containing birds eye peppers. Those tiny little rascals are intense.
Little, tiny really, round Red peppers? They had some In Guyana they just called 'Bird Peppers'. My MIL sent some to us in NYC with someone who was traveling preserved(?) I think in vinegar. When DH opened the jar, i swear one whiff, from across the room mind you, cleared my sinuses out.

I love spicy foods, but...

We go to a gourmet taco place called Torchy's. Each month, they feature a Taco of the Month. A couple of years ago I tried their Scalding Pig. It was pork with some type of spicy hot sauce. I should have known I was in trouble when they gave me a glass of water with the taco. My mouth was on fire. I could't drink enough liquids. When I got home it was like I was in prep for a colonoscopy. They haven't offered it since. Maybe lawsuits. ;)

In college I went to a friends' house, an Indian couple, Asian Indians, and had these little fritters they said were made with chickpea. There must have been something else in those I will never forget them. Hot as hell.

I'm from Louisiana and buy and eat Tabasco sauce in pint size bottles. Sometimes I can finish a bottle in a week. So I do eat hot sauce and hot food, but these things were in a hot class of their own!

Forgot what they were called.

I think maybe 'pakoras' - I love them!

Habanero and cayenne peppers were the hottest I ever ate. Good to have a glass of cold milk at hand since that puts the fire out effectively. Water is useless.
