Losing Keys an issue?

Our newer car has the fob so no need to pull it out of my purse except on the few days I pick up the mail.

We installed door pad locks on our house. They’re great. No need to get out keys and in the event of an emergency someone can get in with a different code.

It was a ‘speak of the devil’ kind of moment today. When we went to pick up the car, the mechanic couldn’t find our Fob for a bit.

It reminded me of the occasion when we arrived back at the Airport Valet very late at night and they couldn’t find the Fob. They searched and searched. Long story short, they eventually had to find a rental car for us and then do an exchange the next day. Someone had obviously left them in their pocket and then gone home.

I don't have car keys to worry about but I do have an apartment key and the fob to get in the building. My neighbor across the hall from me holds my extra key just in case. I have only had to go there once so far.

I confess to having a bit of the same paranoia in the past. But our two year old car has one of those keys where I don’t even have to take it out of my purse to start the car. And Dave keeps his key in his pocket. Problem solved.

I've learned to appreciate the newer cars that don't require ever touching keys or even the computer chip in the transmitter.
I just leave everything in my pocket. All I have to do is touch the door handle or the trunk lid to open it. If I want to use the transmitter, I can lock or unlock the doors or trunk from 20 feet away.
Touching the door handle when leaving the car locks everything. Same with starting or shutting off the car. No dropping or fumbling.
I've never heard of or experienced a car like that! What kind is it? @win231

I have similar fears.

I blame them on my mother and her lectures about being careful not to lose the money in my mitten. 😊

My fear today is leaving my apartment without my keys and hearing that sickening click as the door closes behind me.
only locked myself out of my house one time and it was just as you described... "sickening click". luckily, when we first moved into the house neighbor greeted us with a basket of stuff from his garden and showed me how to break into my own house.

Last time I lost my keys I locked them in the trunk of my car. Absent-mindedly put them down while loading groceries. Had to go into the store and have customer service call a local roadside service company. The time before when I locked the keys in the trunk, my guardian angel came along and removed the of the back seat for me. Had to pry it loose with a screwdriver. Ruined the seat but he got my keys. Thank you David ❤️. Nowadays the back seat back has a catch and opens like a cabinet door. Love the guy too who crawled in there and got the keys for me. Told him he was a Saint. Stuff like this happens to me often so it's no big deal. I feel bad for people whose lives are hardly ever interrupted by challenges.
