Do you like Ginger Beer? Is that what is called Root Beer in the US?

Root beer was made from sassafras, This is no longer used because it was banned by the FDA due to its carcinogenic effects. Root beer today is made with an artificial flavor.

Ginger beer is one of my favorite drinks. I like Bundaberg or home brewed ginger beer. Love ginger biscuits and candied ginger. Always have candied ginger at Christmas time.

Next time you drink root beer, pay close attention to the flavor. I read a comment online about it tasting like wintergreen and I haven’t been able to not notice that it really does, at that. No root beer, ginger ale or ginger beer here in Ecuador but Inca Kola tastes exactly like cream soda. There also is Coke and Pepsi along with a wide assortment of other local drinks, some very tasty!

We had an A&W drive-in where I lived and so I drank the root beer from frosted mugs. This place had the best double cheeseburgers. If I recall they only put pickles and mayo on them. There was a brand of root beer called "Frosties" also very tasty.

Had one sip and that was enough for me. Root Beer and Birch Beer are different altogether.

Exactly! I have 1 can left of ginger beer in my fridge. It's on my shopping list. I will be making Moscow Mules for the holidays. I have 2 of those copper mugs in the freezer.

And I been using fresh ginger in my tea in the mornings, it has all kinds of good benefits.

Perhaps it was a reference to birch beer which does have a mild wintergreen flavor.

Loved that drive-in! Drank floats there often and the burgers were great.

I have a couple cans of ginger beer in the fridge because I like an occasional Bavarian Mule, which is ginger beer, fig vodka and a little lime.
