A roving band of robbers responsible for numerous other robberies pulled up on a groom in a car who stepped outside at a wedding and took their Rolex watch. The gang is suspected in other similar robberies.

The troubling thing although not surprising is the use of the car. They were driving around looking for victims/loot like the true predators they are.

Many people do not wear watches these days, relying on the time from their iPhones. What then .. steal the iPhones?
I always wear a watch - a Casio G-Shock Solar. It someone wants to steal it, they can have it; it cost $100.00 & it's 12 years old.

In this case the watch was as jewelry especially being at a formal occassion. Tech ie the phones are probably too common and can be tracked/turned off. Never had a Rolex but I'd assume high end watches have serial numbers?

I haven't worn a watch in over a decade. I'm actually thinking about starting wearing one again during outdoor exercise and work because it's much easier to flip the wrist to see the time saving the process of viewing the phone.

A watch that looks run-of-the-mill, old fashioned wind up, with a somewhat tatty appearance belies it's pedigree. Most don't even notice.

This happens a lot in the UK...people have had their watches snatched off their wrists. just walking home...

My husband wears a Rolex, in fact he has several, and I've been forever telling him to not be wearing it when he's in a pub drinking with his friends... you never know who is watching and then following you after.. ..but he takes no notice of me, he wears his watch all the time regardless of where he is...so far he's been lucky not to have been mugged for it..

It's going on all over the country but it's the criminals driving around in a car looking for trouble/victims. Yesterday a US congress woman in Philadelphia was carjacked by thieves who were also driving around in a car.

It's no longer about a 'bad' neighborhood. The current crop of criminal thieves are mobile. Victims are being hunted like animals by predators.

No matter where you are always be aware of your surroundings and if you have one keep your cell phone handy.
