'Don't Weigh Me' cards aim to reduce stress at the doctor's office

Why not just have it printed on a shirt and wear it to your appointments?
Less than $35 and a t shirt is reusable, thus helping the environment. 🌳

I no longer allow them to weigh me at the doctor's office. I weigh myself, optimally after a BM, in the morning on my digital scale. That gives my true weight. At the doctor's office with shoes, clothing (especially winter ones) is not one's true weight.
You have a point. That's what I do as well. Then I just tell the doctor's office the weight.

How about the blood pressure test, I'm sure that there's some people that freak out over that one.

How about just cancelling the medical visit altogether, you how doctors are always trying to ruin your happiness by telling you things you don't want to hear, like stop smoking-stop drinking-start exercising! 🤓
Yes, that's what I do, just cancel doctors. I haven't been to a doctor in 14 years.
No problem.
I eat sensibly and weigh myself. I'm a little underweight. I don't smoke or drink alcohol, longevity is on one side of the family.

😄 🌳 🌷 🌳 😊

Do you weigh yourself at home with clothes and shoes on? Are your appointments morning or afternoon? Both things can make a difference. Next time you're going weigh yourself 'au naturale' at home first, get dressed for appt and then weigh yourself again. That might narrow the discrepancy if you usually weigh yourself naked at home. 7lds seems like a lot...but of course climate (in winter i'm wearing thermal underclothes sweaters and often lined boots that could easily account for that.
You make some good points! Yes, I agree that the weight is due to the dress and shoes, etc. But, I always questioned how accurate the weights were for all those millions of people who have been weighed in doctors' offices. They're also including the clothing and shoes. That should be considered. So in all honesty, the whole country weighs a few pounds less than what is recorded in the doctors' office. Right? No one's going to strip down just to be weighed. :p

with shoes depending on shoes or jacket etc can make a bigger difference.
Scale we bought suggests weigh after you wake up have used the restroom and not drinking anything for an accurate reading.

My son had a Dr. tell him to get at home BP thing that records cause he said my son has doctor office anxiety that shows a higher reading.

My spouse recently was in hospital for an issue. He has had a strict NO scale rule with Doctors for years
They were not happy but let it go.
They told him they wanted to go in a vein to check for blockages either in wrist or groin ... he said wrist and they said "oh no we decide "
he said then if he was no longer the consumer.... he was not paying for it
Doctor told staff quit aggravating him and do their job they are providing a service not running his life.

I'm fat and I don't believe in that body positivity movement. I'll get weighed at the doctors office. I just suck it up.

I seem to lose and then gain 20 pounds. It's like a vicious cycle.

The doctor just wants to see a pattern. I’m not concerned about the weight. If they’re giving me a sedative in the operating room, I want it to be right. They always underestimate. I’m a cuddley little thing.

One of the worst places for people lying is when being fitted for rental skis. Too low and you can go flying.

I am not bothered by it. Gosh, one look in the mirror tells me I d not weigh 98 pounds. LOL. My doc has pretty much told me "Your BP is well managed, you are otherwise feeling OK, so as long as you do not eat stupid shit (yes she said shit) and keep healthy foods in your diet, OK. My weight has maintained within a plus or minus 5-10 lb range for years.

I find the blood pressure test extremely painful. It's like someone is pinching me as hard as they can.

My doctor's nurse quit weighing everyone for a while so I asked to be weighed. I want my doctor to notice if I suddenly lose a lot of weight for no reason, it can be a sign of many diseases.

Ever look at your Medicare statement? My doctors charge separately for talking about weight. No doctor talks to me about weight, but they always state they did to get paid for it. Crooks.
I don't have Medicare yet, but your advice is important for everybody, regardless of payment method.
It brought to mind quite a few years ago when I went to ER, ill, cause unknown, and before they did a battery of tests I was asked if I might be pregnant. I said it was not possible. However, when I received the itemized bill I found they'd charged me for a pregnancy test anyway!!!
So while I do agree they sometimes 'sneak' stuff in when folks have Medicare or other insurance, and figure the people won't notice, that's an experience I had when I had a bill to pay out-of-pocket.

A good doctor will usually "recommend" changes that can improve a person's health. Excessive Weight is the root cause of nearly 1/3rd of our nations health problems....across ALL age groups...per data at the CDC.
I agree however too many doctors try to stay neutral anymore.
Many doctors simply do not say what needs to be said, that being really overweight can and does cause many issues.

I wonder if the pendulum will ever swing back to a world where people could handle the truth..... instead of pretending otherwise on many issues
