What do you do between Christmas and New Year?

This isn't about New Year's resolutions. I realized there are things I do routinely between Christmas and New Year, and chatting with friends we discovered we all have certain things we do in that week before the new year begins.

1. I take down my Christmas tree and decorations and restore the house to its default.

2. While I'm doing that, I deep clean the living room and kitchen (where most of the decorations are....it's just one large common space) and the den.

3. I purge and organize my closet and dresser.

4. I list any Christmas decorations I need to purchase or replace.

I think that's it. What about you? Is there anything in particular you do in that week?

Christmas decorations always stayed out until the wise men arrived on January 6th.

The week before the new year is sort of like preparing for a trip.

I clean a little more, catch up on the laundry, purge a few things, use up various odds and ends in the refrigerator, pay the bills, take out the trash and get ready for a fresh start.

I take down any xmas decorations I have in my living room, pack them away in my cedar chest.
I write in my yearly journal {which I've done since 1987} top 10 News/Sports stories, famous people who have passed away,# of books I've read, how many times I finished daily NYT crossword puzzle ,church related events, how the stock market did, personal stuff

I take down the decorations...this year that took all of 10 minutes.... ..no need to deep clean because I did that before Christmas day...

Most years I send a bit of time searching for holiday destinations for the following year but I don't think I'll be going anywhere again for the 3rd year running...

..so I've put myself on a diet.. since Christmas day.. and been exercising using my small home gym...and otherwise doing very little of any note..

Between the two holidays, it feels like every day is Saturday.
With so many people home from work and school during this time, it's got that 'weekend' feel to it all week long.

I like to take the time and organize a closet or two, and get rid of any unwanted items. Seems like a good time for a fresh restart.

@Bonnie yes!! My work schedule is rearranged this week, plus we’re going out of town for New Years so that added more re-scheduling, and I was complaining to Ron just a few minutes ago that I’ve had to work through what day it was countless times since Christmas Eve day!!

It’s not like any other days this year, because we can’t walk in the bitterly cold. That means I’m spending more time than usual sorting through cupboards. So much stuff.

Years ago these days would have been spent finding the right outfit for NYE. Also, would have been shopping or making lots of appetizers. I don’t miss that.

I did not shop for Christmas so I have nothing to put away. Never put up any Christmas decorations so I have nothing to put away again. I just continue reading like I do the other 51 weeks of the year. Right now I'm reading "Why We Can't Sleep" by Ada Calhoun. It is about middle aged American women burning out because they tried to "have it all and do it all" and "having it all and trying to do it all" is a real killer.
