Something to Ponder...

That's right. Good point. We all need "food, shelter and clothing." The rest of the stuff out there is just wants; not needs. You don't need to watch some millionaire football player and you don't need to watch some TV host yapping away pure nonsense.
When I google it, I can't believe what American sports players and TV personalities earn. We should be paying doctors, nurses and firemen good wages but who am I to blow against the wind?

well we do NEED these celebrities TV hosts.. etc..if you work in the entertainment industry in any capacity ( as I did, and my o/h does) .. or we'd NEED another job....

There is certainly a kernel of truth to this. We do assign more respect to celebrities than we should. Just because someone is a great actor/singer/athlete etc. does not make them a good role model or wise person. That is where we often go wrong.

I think it does add to our enjoyment of life to have recognizable entertainers or athletes. We just have to be careful not to assign them disproportionate importance... Hard to do sometimes.

I think we all can appreciate natural talent in individuals, and their ability to entertain, But like my dad used to say "everyone puts their pants on the same way, one leg at a time". The value placed on things, and the rate of wealth accumulation of the very few, at the expense of so many, in general does seem pretty twisted. Maybe time to start going in another direction? Mike
