this is along the lines of a couple years ago siri answered how to dispose of a body......just said i can no longer advise on this..
after made the news they shut it down quickly probably why the link no longer works with this story....
 
Ye gads! And I thought it was a little bit scary when Alexa told me that by the way, a package had just been delivered to my condo and was right in front of my door. (It was true. It was an Amazon package, of course, and Alexa "helpfully" tells you when you get something from Amazon.) I've gotten used to it by now.

But that other thing, about the socket and the penny, should never have been permitted to enter the data base, and the sicko who put it there should have been instantly fired. A kid could have been killed!
 
The mother and daughter were doing challenges on TikTok. Seems like that’s where the blame should be going. Once they or someone is sued, dangerous games like this will stop.
 
Interesting article. A relative gave me a gift certificate for Amazon so yesterday I went on their website wondering what I should buy. I don't need anything but hey, I have to spend this some how. The first thing that came up was this Alexa speaker. I went straight to the comments by people who actually bought it. Some were happy but many were not. As for me, I don't need more junk or more complications in my life! They say Google knows more about you then you know about yourself. I think I'm starting to believe this to be true.

I understand what u are saying but I love our Alexa..we have a speaker in multiple rooms. I often ask her to play a song or ask what is the temperature, humidity, time or have her set a timer for something...at the present, she is turning on and off our Christmas tree.

yep me too..I have 3...one in my office room.. one in my livingroom, and one in the kitchen.. I am so used to asking it to do stuff, that sometimes when I'm in the car a thought will come into my head.. and I'll go to ask..for example....''Google.. what is the weather like ahead.. ?.. ooh lol.. no google home hub in the car.. however did you know you can get Amazon echo for the car ?

I agree.

It’s kind of sad that a 5th grader wouldn’t know that it’s a bad idea to stick anything into an electrical socket.

I overheard all 3 of my grown girls (thirty-somethings) on Christmas Day talking in the car

about how grateful they were that they grew up without cell phones. Really?

I never thought I'd hear that. I smiled to think they'd gained some valuable wisdom in life ☺️

Of all the gizmos in my house, I like Alexa the best. It is incredibly "smart," can answer an enormous range of questions, plays music whenever you want, all you have to do is say, "Alexa, play Auld Lang Syne" (for instance) and you immediately get a singer or a group singing it. If you can't find your cell phone, just say, "Alexa, where's my phone" and the phone rings. I ask "her" what the weather forecast is every day and get a short but correct answer. If you can't remember the capital of Greece, or the president of Belgium, or the population of Chicago, just ask her. You never have to do arithmetic, just give her the numbers and you'll get a correct answer. History? No problem. If you want to know what president followed Lincoln, just ask her that too.

And she has excellent recipes for just about anything. And you can watch movies or play Jeopardy on it. She can give you driving directions to get anywhere, and probably show you maps. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The only down side: She makes me lazy. I don't even have to bother Googling things any more. It's easier to just ask Alexa.
