Gotta feel those paper pages. Funny, but I read my newspapers on my computer, a book, never!
aaah .. I will make certain it is wiped before I give it away.I donated my old Kindle a few months ago and it might have nothing whatsoever to do with the old Kindle but not too long after, an erroneous charge for a Kindle book showed up on my Amazon account (to read my original thread about it: https://www.seniorforums.com/threads/warning-disposing-of-old-devices.64642/#post-1873611). I did the "factory reset" on the old Kindle which is supposed to remove all my info. and maybe it did but it still seems odd the err. charge happened shortly after.
Anyway, I don't think I'll ever donate or sell any devices ever again unless maybe it's to a family member.
They do have Kindle covers that also include a stand; here's one:Books - 50-50
Newspapers - old-fashioned paper. I like to prop it up on the table and read it while I am eating. That would be pretty awkward using my Kindle.
I started using the Kindle due to the vision issues too. Once I did that I never wanted a paperback book again. Books are heavy for me to hold for very long and then there is folding the covers over and holding it in one hand. Nope. I used to have loads of books and read nonstop. Then stopped due to my eyes. Now I read constantly. In fact, due to the Kindle I think I read much more than I ever did.Because of vision issues, I use a device so I can change the font.
I also love being able to look up a word. It’s so easy compared to the old way of rolling out of bed to pick up the dictionary.
When I go to an appointment, my phone has a strong data plan so I read my phone. I’m also thankful that DH can read the news on his phone when he’s waiting for me in the car.
Newspapers....online subscriptions for Washington Post and local newspaper.I use an android tablet with free LIBBY downloads from state library. Prefer audio versions so I can also listen to books while driving.
