Question About Posting on Multiple Sites

In case you are interested I don't do social media. I used to years ago but lost interest in dancing cats and dogs driving cars. This is the only site I go on most days. I have to many other interests and really try to limit my time on the computer period. What else is there? Well, reading, walking the hallways, talking to real people, playing my guitar, making meals, exercising and dreaming of traveling again after this Covid mad world comes to it's senses!

Those of us who are members of more than one site are aware of others who do the same. What gives them away is their starting topics on the same subject. For instance, without going into detail....there is currently at least two threads on here which are also on another site. Some people use the same name, so they are quite open about it. The question is.....do they get a completely different response on each site?

Also, @Lavinia, there are folks from one site that peruse other sites and "steal" thread topics. I've seen that lots of times too!

No, you were right. Google says:
"A forum is an online site created for the purpose of allowing discussion. ... Forum users can interact by posting questions, answers, and other comments related to a given topic. A thread is a grouping of posts set-up as a conversation among users."

So while you wouldn't ask the same question on multiple threads in Senior Forums, you can ask here, then ask it on Quora, etc. While trying to find out exactly how many online forums there are ( I failed) I did read that there are about 400 new forums started every day and Reddit has over a billion members.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get this information, which is very useful as I was confused a bit on the subject, as you'll all know by now. lol -- This does clear things up, nicely. :giggle:

I feel compelled to put out there that I do not do that. Putting the amorality aside, (that might be a bit strong), what's to gain from such a thing?

I belong to many different forums, and dozens of Facebook groups. I have diverse interests and each group or forum speaks to a specific interest…houseplants, couple different dance forums, dogs in general. Chihuahuas in specific, Jack Russell terriers in specific, gardening, buying and selling, wellness, abuse, a neighborhood forum, dog training, my rescue group, another volunteer group etc. plus social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat etc.

They all serve my specific needs. It’s very seldom that I will post the same thing on more than one group, probably with the exception of dog stuff, because you have a pet forum here, and I belong to a variety of different dog sites.

Same here. This is the only general forum I belong to other than fb which is real life friends and family. The rest I visit are geared towards interests.
