Why couldn't the mountain climber scale the Matterhorn?

Because the guides were out sick with covid-19. They were unvaccinated and two of them wound up in the ICU. They're currently just barely hanging on, having been placed on ventilators last night. Another one of the guides ate some rotten fish and is sick, but is expected to be okay. Also, the weather has been inclement, so it's climbs are not recommended.
